If you could spend 2000 euro ( about 2300 dollar ) for a new guitar. Would you choose a Gibson Lp Studio , a Fender vintage 57 , or a Paul Reed Smith ( with I barely know so pleas give me info ^^ wink.gif ... )

I´m looking for some kind of a allround guitar for blues , rock , and a lil bit for shredding ( cause it´s so much fun xD )

Now I´m playing a ESP ltd 1000 sw--- but I really need a second guitar....

Please help me guys I need your kickass superman-like advice smile.gif

Greetings Jean- Marc

They are all great choices mate and will all shine in various musical styles, the LP will be a great rock gutar and the strat, well, its a strat mte, theyre famous for good reason!
Your ESP is basically a LP clone so I would rule out the studio straight away as it will be very similar, the strat would be a great opposite end of the scale guitar to have and will be the most diverse sound from your ESP.The PRS is right smack bang in the middle of the strat and LP in terms of scale length, tone and versatility, if you didnt already have a humbucker equipped guitar then I would say this but to really expand your musical spectrum the strat offers the most to you here. Certaily you should try one first though, they arent the fastest playing guitars and the 25.5 inch scale length can take a little getting used to if youve only ever played short scale guitars.

Hope that helped.

Since You really has a Les Paul type guitar, I would have go for a Fender every day in the week, since You cant get its tone from no other of the guitars You mentioned...
But if You go for a Fender, check them all out, since even that there are different models and all is supposed to sound the same in respect to the model, this is not really true. For instance I found a Mark Knopler Strat that sounds more SRV than the signature model itself....

For 2000 Euros you can get a LP Standard instead of a studio.

As for LP vs Strat, they are so different. I feel more comfortable with a strat, and like a thinner neck better. Check the neck of different strats, see which one suits you best!

I've got an american deluxe strat which i absolutely love, check one out if you can, try as many guitars as possible.

Agreed, a Les Paul Studio is only arround 1000Euros and the Standard models are arround 2k!

Go to a store and try the guitars!!! Strats and Les Pauls are like day and night; totally diffrent feel, sound, etc..
Trying them in a shop will give you a good impression on which you like more!

Les Paul: Thick, warm tone with endless sustain. Heavy guitar and thcik neck...
Strat: Bright tone with less sustain. Light and easy to play guitar...
PRS: Kinda in between the other two. It has attributes of both, good and bad...

Step one: Go to a store and try a LP standard and Fender Vintage 57!

Step two:
-You like the LP better? >>buy the LP
-You like the Strat better? >>buy the strat
-You liked both?>> Step 3^^

Step 3: Try a PRS (a bit of both worlds)
-You like the PRS best>>buy the PRS
-You don't like the PRS but both the LP and Strat? Think about getting an American Standard Fender and a Les Paul Studio for 1000Euros each - Two good guitars or one really great guitar? Your Call!

Step 4: You didn't like any of those guitars? Come back and ask us^^

+1000, get the strat, put some medium output stacked humbucker on the bridge and you are ready to roll, it will be under 2000E, with the money u are not speding you can buy some cool locking tuners, strap locks, some packs of strings, and you got an amazing guitar.

lp's are great, but do you wanna have two guitars that sounds very similar? maybe that's your whole point.

an option here, try a gibson sg with p-90 or humbuckers, i think that would be a mid point between those two guitars instead of the PRS, specially with p-90 a sg can seriously ROCK.

You really have to try them, but I'm going to throw my vote in for PRS. I love my strat, but I used to own a les paul too which I also loved (and miss a lot sometimes). PRS has many different models, not just HH, but several HSH, or HSS and others. You may want to check out the 25th anniversary Swamp Ash Special. PRS has entirely discontinued their whole line pretty much, and have a new 25th anniversary line out, to go with their new amps. The Narrowfield looks pretty amazing to me.

I would have go for the first one of two reasons:

1) The Yngwie Strat doesn't really have "the Strat" -sound imo.
2) The neck is scalloped. Even that its fairly easy to get used to, it may be totally different when You shall play Your other guitar and maybe You have to scallop that one too.... tongue.gif

I think Strat would be a logical choice there, but you should definitely spend more time trying out several models of strat guitar. If you're interested in vintage 57 strat, for that money you can get 57 or 62 reissue strats which are the best strats next to the custom shops. I specially recommend 62 reissue, it even comes with 5 way switch, and the sound is very punchy, fat and rich.

I would second the Malmsteen Strat.. heavily biased though as I own one. The scalloping takes a while to get used to but once you do its hard to imagine having a guitar that is not scalloped. Control on bends an vibrato is amazing. The downside is that I could never find one in a store to try so I had to just buy one.. without test driving. That said.. had I tried it in a store I am not sure I would have bought it because in the begining it felt a bit strange in my hands..but it grows as time goes on.

The other options I will thow out would be the Jeff Beck signature strat.. very nice guitar or the Ritchie Blackmore signature.

There is another gmc'r who is a recent Malmsteen purchaser...Robert.. are you out there?? chime in bro!

+1 Ivan, the 62 Reissue is very good, but also as You said, trying them out is most important since there are difference on each copy made really.... they are just personal, like girls... laugh.gif

Yeah, that lesson has a beautiful sound! And Your playing is such nice Sinisa! However, I find the necks on the 57's a little thick for my baby-hands tongue.gif , so I really prefer the 62's style necks that are a little bit thinner.... But thats really a matter of taste, also I find the 57's a little more trebly and sort of "spunkier" sounding, but in a nice way... I would really love to have that type too.... biggrin.gif

these look a real nice proposition from PRS, saw davey knowles demo one and it sounded like a really thick strat type tone, lovely. Shame they'll be a huge price though. mellow.gif

True, probably super expensive biggrin.gif Ya don't really know with PRS, have to ask their dealers. Something to dream for though. I saw the davey knowles video as well, would have been nice to hear some more gain with it, but you can tell it would probably sound amazing.
