I am working on this again Sarge.

Once again, I've combined the two sections, the B section is trickier than the A but I should have a video soon, even if it's just a progress video

Cheers

Hello Sarge,

We're going HERE tomorrow until next Sunday. Its a small coastal village in Wales so we can stay safe. Just a quiet week for us. I need a break from everything and I'll come back all the better for it, it's been tough recently as you know so a change of scenery will be good.

Back onto everything when I get back. Sorting my studio out will take some of my time but it will be time well spent.

Cheers

Phil

Hello Sarge,

Finally got my act together. First take of #39, 260bpm both ways 300bpm down only, lesson does only request one way though wink.gif Please excuse the sound editing, it was done in a rush.

This is top notch work Soldier!! Great use of pinky and solid mute. You are moving very well through a very tricky pattern. I"m impressed also that you sped it up and kept it tight. I can see a LOT of gains in this video. Your current practice routine is working great from what I can see!

You killed this one! I know you are ready for what is to come!
You just...

LEVELED UP!!!

Mission 40

Great work on these! The first is a warm up. Strike just one note and hammer on the next two and repeat. The important bit is to play this very evenly on a loop. Also, make sure to mute very strong so that each hammer on sounds like a pick strike. This is not an easy thing to pull off but worth trying.

This one is my fave way to run a quasi blues scale. It's got way more notes than any traditional blues scale and the first 3 high strings work best in a solo when played briskly as they don't always match since this is a blended scale. Keep a solid mute here as well.

Well fought Soldier!! This is my fave way to run a blues scale. It's got some extra notes in it that are not really part of the scale but sound cool in a solo. Try this against just about any youtube backing in the same key and it will work like a charm!!

Also congrats on making your playlist!! It's a great way to track your progress!

To wit!!

Super congrats Soldier!!! This is a long and tricky lick and you nailed it!!

You just...

LEVELED UP!!

Thanks Sarge,

It always amazes me how pedestrian it looks on video compared to how it feels when playing it.

Cheers

Sorta like top gear and the star in the reasonably priced car. In the car it is crazy fast, but from the camera it looks really slow. It's just an optical illusion. You played great!!!

Welcome back Soldier!!! I think you are coming back in at a great time in that the sections you are moving through in bootcamp should help as you work on the Satch material. You may start to notice bits of satch throughout this and the next few missions. I have based a lot of my style of play on his example and it shows up in the Missions.

Onward!!

Thanks Sarge,

When I gave it another go, I thought, "This is going to help with my struggle of the Satch run".

I was thinking, the Satch run is probably the first time I've tried a musical run down the neck. I know some bootcamp licks go along the neck but they are pretty metronimic in the note spacing, with the slightly extended notes and stuff in that Satch run it's throwing me off.

Cheers

Phil

So much of my playing style is based on things I've stolen directly from the masters that I really do think it should help smile.gif As you learn the satch piece, you will probably start noticing how similar Boot camp missions are to various things in that song. There are echoes of Yngwie, Satch, and vai all through these Missions. Onward!!
