GMC Forum _ Collaborations _ Speed Metal Collaboration

Posted by: Daniel Realpe Feb 8 2010, 02:16 AM

Hi GMC!

Welcome to a new collab!

Solo over the speed metal backing track. It’s influenced by early Metallica and maybe Motorhead,

Chords used are: A - E - A - E

So you can use A pentatonic scale and E pentatonic scale. For a good idea of what you can do here, listen to “Kill’em all” by Metallica. biggrin.gif

Deadline is in three weeks!

see you!

EDIT: Tempo is 184bpm. There's four beats in the beginning so you can sync easily in your DAW.

Participants so far:

1. Evil_Invader
2. Karl-ss
3. mhskeide
4. zen
5. superize
6.

 Speed_metal_collab.mp3 ( 1.23MB ) : 320

Sounds killer!

Hope I can find some time to record a take between album recording, university and job... never done any collab before! Would be a great way to start as it's right up my style! Don't usually use the pentatonic much thought, but it's always a lot of fun!

Daniel: You said there are 4 beats in the beginning so we can sync it up in the DAW . I don't hear the those beats or any metronome ticks before the start of the riff.

The beats are there but they are silent. So, set up the tempo in your DAW to match this track's tempo and align the start of the mp3 with an exact bar (use grid mode), you'll see that music starts exactly after 4 beats.
