I know this is a guitar site but I want to sing and play at the same time like my favorite guitarist, James Hetfield. So anyway how do you sing in key? Like if a song is in the key of G, do I just sing the words in a G note the entire time (I have a tuner that tells me what note I'm singing). Or do I sing any notes that are in the G major scale or what?

Its no different to playing a guitar solo really, you just use your voice instead of the guitar (whilst playing chords on the guitar presumably). So, yes, you would use any notes out of the scale of G to construct your melody around.
