I am especially blown away by Rousseau's and Sergio's takes - which to me were awesome. Highly musical stuff and you got technical enough, but without overdoing it!

thanks a lot for your comment Kris.

Thanks for the excellent criticism Pedja. It was really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Also thanks to Smells, for inviting me to join the collaboration.

hey thanks for all the nice comments guys.... and yeah...im heavily influenced by maiden tongue.gif. after i recorded the track i realized that it sounded exactly like wasted years..which happens to be one of my most fav IM tracks ever.

And i guess its just a bad season for computers...like mercus was having issues with his mbox, my computer started acting weird when i started recording this track. im having huge latency issues..(gotta get it fixed). i somehow managed to record with a little latency, but still it went off time here and there. but it was an awesome experience to be in the collaboration.

excellent playing Sergio, Zsolt and Ivan.

Serzio...loved the legato at end wink.gif

Hey Saint, is there any particular reason for not going for firewire? I've been using firewire sondcard forever and never had any problem. I think you will have better option if you consider using firewire, such as apogee duet is extremely good.

I didn't quite understand what you meant, little more explanation would be helpful. But as far as I understand your question, I think you are asking for MIDI files (correct me if I'm wrong). You can just search the song name with the word MIDI on google or any other search engine and you'll get a bunch of links to free downloads. Hope that helps.

Nice comparison man. I've been using the dunlop kit for about 3-4 years now and it worked perfect for me. I prolly should give a try to Gibson.

I own a lot of vinyls but like Smikey i dont listen to them anymore as everything is so computer based now and PC has become the only source of my entertainment. Well if you think technically, vinyls wont give you better sound quality as everything is digital now and gives you HD quality audio/video output. But some people personally prefer the sound of vinyls. I'd say its just a matter of personal opinion. I personally like to listen to Pink Floyd on vinyl, I love that poping effect from that old LP.

QUOTE
To me, it is either used as a synonymy to "skilled" or by someone who does not understand the mechanics of self improvement.

Well said Kris. And an excellent topic. I have argued over this topic several times with a lot of people and every time I came across newer believes and insights. I personally don't believe in so called talent. Like Kris said, it's actually the skill that people see to misunderstand as talent.

Just for an example, lets say Mr. John Doe is a son of a extremely talented guitarist and successful guitarist. He grew up all his life around music. Many would assume that he is naturally talented, but what if he has no interest in playing guitar or music in general and never practiced his entire life. Do you think he has any chances of being a good guitar player if he starts to play all on a sudden. Well, he only will if dedicates him self completely to playing guitar.

This dilemma of talent is somewhat of a concept found in the ancient traditions, where people where judged by their birth. Like if you are born a king then you have the highest respect in society even though now we know that its completely meaningless. Scientists have proven that all human are born with the same amount of brain and therefore, equally capable of everything except for a few unlucky people who had birth difficulties.

The reason behind the belief of "talent" is actually altered by certain variables rather than your birth. How you grew up and the circumstances greatly affects ones ability to do something. Like as I mentioned earlier, Mr. John Doe has all the positive variables on his side to achieve success as a musician. His father was a musician so grew up around music and got all the facilities to develop and he also might have better reach to the business people in the field which will sure help him to be successful as a professional musician. On the other hand, a kid that grew up in the poverty of Africa and barely gets enough food to eat three times a day let alone getting music lessons or buying an instruments. Do you think he has any chances of being a successful musician?

I believe in one thing that is, "if there is a will, there is a way." If you can believe and dream of being a good and successful musician and you are motivated, then nothing can stop you.

QUOTE (Jeff @ Sep 24 2008, 08:19 PM) *
OK - I need to lose weight! I totally did it to myself too and now I'm sick of the way I feel. I admit it - I'm a freakin' slob! mad.gif I'm not really a big guy and I should be about 175 lbs for my size frame. I'm 5'10 and 200 lbs. My goal is to be about 175. I feel best at that weight.

I need some motivation. How can I get motivated to work out. How can I pass that stupid vending machine at my office?! unsure.gif

I lost 30lbs over this summer. The only way to lose weight is to watch your diet and exercise. And to lose weight you dont have to lift weight or do anything heavy. Lifting weights only helps you to build muscle and it doesnt really burn a significant amount of fat. Cardio is the best thing to do for this matter. I use to run 2 miles, 3-5 days a week. And really watched my diet. Its best if you can run or jog first thing in the morning before eating anything. But if you dont have enough time or a lazy person like me then anytime during the day is fine as long as you stay regular. Running in the morning helps best because you dont have anything in your stomach at that time and therefore, when you start running it starts to burn your carb deposit right away and then goes to your fat deposit(when you start to sweat).

Vending machines man, thats the worst thing for the healthy life. I use to carry protein bars with me to school and work so that i dont get tempted to use that vending machine when i get hungry.

Its really hard or nearly impossible to put the 5 greatest guitarist that ever lived, but I'm just gonna go with my most favorite guitarists of all time that influenced my playing the most in no particular order.

1. Joe Satriani
2. John Petrucci
3. Marty Friedman
4. Jeff Beck
5. Ritchie Blackmore

Wasting Love from the Fear of the Dark Album is probably the easiest Maiden song ever. I love it.
