Hey guys,
Doing an install on my truck and I though some of you would like to see some pics of the process. It's not complete yet, and I will keep updating. The system is probably over 1300Wrms because alpine underrates their amps by 5-10%. It's pretty sweet that I can show people on here, and not worry about it going missing haha. I'm not even letting any of my friends know what's going in here, for fear of the "word of mouth" (I live in a small town). Enjoy! I started with my stock 2004 Chevy 4x4 truck....and about $3000 worth of equipment....and $250 worth of wires. Next, since buying a box wasn't an option (because of my sub-woofer's shape) and the unusual floor shape, I have to fabricate a box out of fiberglass. This process sucks, and it's 1000x more frustrating that it looked on any website. Word to the wise...let someone else do it. Next, I had to mount the amps on the back wall of the truck. I had to take the back seat out, but it's worth it. At least no one can steal them unless they take the whole truck. Yes, I'm paranoid. I have an Alpine MRV-T420 for highs (170Wx2 Class A/B), and an MRP-M850 (800Wx1 Class D amp) for my sub. Next is the sub. It's a Kicker 12" L5 Solobaric square. [300Wrms - 4ohm]x2 DVC. I had this in my accord, and it would flex the windshield...no lie. But that's what you expect with a $500 speaker (or it was when I bought it). The deck is an Alpine IPOD deck. That's right...NO CD'S!!!! only USB. It controls the IPOD completely, so all I have to do is put the IPOD in the glove box, and I'm ready to roll. Basically I have a 80 GB deck I dn't have a pic of it, but it is this one: Alpine iDA-X001 Finally, I also installed a switch for the 12V remote turn-on running to my sub amp. Just incase granny is riding with me, and I don't want to shake her dentures out. I can just flick the switch and it disables my sub. It's also useful for when I get pulled over for this stereo, and I can assure the officer that my amp doesn't work.....and it must have been someone else making that noise More to come as the days go on. This sub box has me head scratching a bit...... Let me know what y'all think. Oh, and I should add...I'm not one to pound the system through a residential area or anywhere it could bother someone. I do A LOT of highway driving, so if it's loud, no one else can hear it. I chose such high power stuff to heighten the signal-to-noise ratio. You'll see the sound quality competitions cars have 5000W rms of power, and they will only use 1000W. This post has been edited by Sircraigery: Apr 29 2008, 06:34 AM -------------------- Guitars:

Congratulations man!
Although you wont mind if I state my own opinion about it. I personally think that this kind of audio power in a truck is ridiculous. 1000W of audio power in a truck that is a size of a smaller room can not only be too loud, but dangerous to health and traffic safety. And listening on the highway at high volumes is something I would definitely never do even even with a regular audio system, let alone 1000W system that can produce some scary waves. Another important thing is that this system imo is not even made for in car listening but playing loud music for external crowd and showing off and this is what I generally don't like too (at least not in that manner). So - interesting but completely obsolete and dangerous if you ask me. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Well all I can say is that the "option" to listen music dangerously loud is not worth to spend that much money imo. Maybe I'm wrong so don't kill me, but that's just me.
