Well here is a little vid of a random jam i did for this mentor thing, its not that great but hey.. it is the first time i've done this kinda thing. My style is predominatly metal but i enjoy learning all different styles as i feel it is important to add different flavours to the music i write. I am completly self taught which probebly means that i have picked up many mistakes, which can be corrected in the mentoring programme. my main goals are to clean up my fast picking and sweep picking technuiqes as well as expand my knowledge of scale and chord structures. Basicly i want to improve every facet of my playing. My main influances guitar wise are the following people: Dimebag, the Amott brothers, per nilsen (scar symetry) Zakk wilde, slash,Randy rhodes, srv, and many many more. I hope that being part of the mentoring programme will enable me to learn in a more dynamic way and make me a all round better guitarist/ musician

so there we go, i will upload some better videos with me playing better after the nerves have gone lol rolleyes.gif

Lift your pinkie for instant results. If you're struggling to pick faster, it's almost certain that the anchor is holding you back.

Thanks man i will definatly give that a try.... do you not lose stability when playing fast without and anchor?

You still get a soft anchor on the strings, near the bridge, which also serves to mute unwanted string noise (which I may also be hearing in your playing during that video) so you'd still end up ahead.

Take a look at a few of the GMC video lessons and see a few different right-hand styles. Some will still anchor that pinkie, I think, but not while playing very quickly. See what works best for you.

A few interesting right hand positions that I saw:
- David Wallimann's closed fist
- Muris Varajic's less-closed fist
- Lian Gerbino's open hand (I have no idea what kinda glue he uses to keep his pick in place)
- Piotr Kaczor's occasional pinkie anchoring
