Hi,

I have a highschool jazz band audition in a week.
I played bass for the jazz band this year, but my
music teacher wants double bass (the big upright bass)to play
for the jazz band instead next year(this coming September.
Well, he has to pass the audition just like me, but there is my
music teacher's preference. I don't see any chance of
winning this audition because I learned how to play bass in one year
with one of those Hal Leonard books and the double bass guy is involved
in orchestra, plays for school concert band, plays at church, and even has
a private tutor.. Grr.. So what I've been thinking is.. SLAP BASS!!
That way it wouldnt be weird to have two bass... But do you think
slap bass is suitable for jazz? I don't think there is music score for slap bass
I guess I'll have to improv with guitar chord music score...
Anyways, what do you think of this?

Slap bass works for fusion, but probably not for hard core modern ...
