I like HC punk, metal, both old and new of both. Bu I'm interested in taking my playing to a whole new level. I hava all these ideas going through my head but no way to get them out. You answered your question yourself - you should start focusing on studying music theory, as this will be a nice way to bind and structurize all the knowledge you have atm. It will also open new ideas for you. I suggest you start with intervals. Learn all about them. Then move on to diatonic scale, major scale, keys and simple chords/triads.
