There was a guitar contest some time ago it is called "Guitar Player Superstar 08". Guitar Player is a guitar magazine and they did this contest and in my opinion it's pretty cool in the jury was Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, George Lynch and other 2 guys that I don't know the names. They filmed the final part of the contest there are 10 players they are all great I think it's worth watching

Here it is the link:

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Yeah, I went to the one in San Fransisco during 2007. Satriani was there, as was Nuno Bettencourt, Greg Howe, Steve Lukather, Elliot Easton, and Mike Varney (oh, and Brendon Small the creator of "Dethklok" was the host). One of the ladies at the front was kind enough to take me backstage, and I met all of the judges and contestants (except for Satriani, who left early). smile.gif sad.gif

It was the first time I had ever heard of Nuno, now he is one of my favorite guitar players! I was listening to "EXTREME" for the next two, or three months! biggrin.gif
