Feb 11 2009, 10:17 PM	Experienced Rock Star Posts: 2.119 Joined: 15-October 07 From: Leiria, Portugal	I want to buy a new guitar to do powerful riffs, I love my fender american stratocaster but I want to have something powerful, any type of metal...Don't tell me, you should try before buying, just tell what guitars you like and think suitable, money is no object, I just want lots of opinions to look into. Can you be a bit more specific about money to spend, brands, shapes etc? For powerfull riffs you have to go for humbuckers and a massive mahagony guitar to get that chunky low end, so any Les Paul type would do wonders...other choices are an Explorer or Flying V or basicly every heavy mahagony body guitar You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. If you like thinner necks the EC-1000 will shine over a Les Paul. They may look similar but they dont feel at all the same. The Ibanez RG series is a riff machine as well. As are the Jackson Dinky's, Soloists, Kelly's. I'm willing to bet that more punishing riffs are tracked with a Gibson Les Paul than any other guitar. I know Washburn sounds like a weird choice but they play AMAZING. You could also put EMG's in or maybe some nice high output Dimarzios like an air norton, etc. Here's a link. I had mine made in Poland, so I wasn't even close to $3000. Still I didn't cut back on any costs, I got everything jut the way I wanted and it cost me around $1700.
