You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Those Alice in Chains videos are kind of disturbing to watch. I mean, I've been watching em for a while now. Tensions seems kind of high because you can really tell Layne Staley seems so out of it here, but this was also one of his best performances just because it fits the mood of the songs so perfectly. Plus, this was at the time when Staley parted ways with Alice in Chains so it must be kind of weird.

I love unplugged JAMS like this because it reminds me of the good old days of sitting in a park and just playing with some friends (no amps, and people would just stop and listen). That's where everything started with me (being interested in guitar, music and composition) and finding out what playing music was all about. I learned it was about finding your inner self, relaxing, having fun and just feeling the groove. cool.gif

Cheers bro! smile.gif

I think the 'Unplugged' were some of the best things ever shown on MTV!!!
Some of my favourite ones include the Nirvana, Eric Clapton and the ones you've posted!
My all-time favourite one was Bruce Springsteen one!!

Very cool videos. MTV had some really good unplugged shows. The best I've seen was Eric Clapton one.

I know exactly what you mean. In one of the other videos, I dont know if It is one of those, Staley says this was one of the best shows they had done in 3 years.

But yeah, I couldn't agree with you more. It is a bit a disturbing on some level. However, the beauty of the songs often gets those bad feelings out of my head. I know Staley probably wasnt a 100% by any means, but the music itself was.

My favourite one is the Alice in chains act! smile.gif
They started with the Nutshell, what a hell of a song. Would be nice if some of GMC instructor covered that song and solo.

Unplugged was a great concept.

My favourite fom those above is the one by Kiss.

If I remember rightly I think Springsteen cheeted and played some of the session "plugged"
