Stay focused when practicing ...

Sounds like a simple concept, but I know that I am guilty of goofing off when I should be practicing. GMC in particular is always a huge distraction ...

It is hard to stay focused when things are distracting, specially the computer and TV. Practicing in a complete silence is a way to go imho. That's why I mainly practice at night (that and I don't have the time during the day laugh.gif )

But practising in night time is not practical to me as my family members need sweet dreams. laugh.gif laugh.gif

I look for silent day time instead, without my computer and TV

Thats a really good tip.

My recording sessions is the best practice for me, because i feel like i'm the most focused on what i'm doing then.

I agree with Trond, when I record I ONLY focus on this, and the good thing is that later you can listen to the result and see if you improved smile.gif

Staying focused even when doing the boring exercises will help you improve your muting technique ("cleanliness") and tone - by actively thinking on finger placement and synchronisation. Absolutely mandatory to reach the top, in other words!

Couldn't agree more, when in total silence and focusing on muting the strings - it can do wonders for the tone! smile.gif

The better way to practice focused is to practice in little pieces make little pause between exercises (imho)

This is very important...One should practice and concentrate..Goofing and just playing stuff , rather being focused on something that you need to practice is bad...And we all tend to "wander off" sometimes... wink.gif
