Hello! There have probably been many topics discussing Dream Theater and what not, but I wanted to make this topic regarding his solo album, Suspended Animation. I usually don't like instrumentals that much, but after hearing "The Glasgow Kiss," I was blown away by the melodies, and then "Damage Control" is even better. I love how he incorporates riffs in his songs, it isn't just lead guitar, like most instrumentalists I have seen. I also love the many different genres he crosses, like on "Damage Control," he goes from the Middle Eastern part into some country riffs lol if that makes any sense, and then a country solo. "Jaws of Life" is amazing as well, the riffs are so sweet!

I haven't bought this stuff yet, but I will, because it's John Petrucci. I love that guys' sound, tonewise, as much as I am blown away by his chops! I own all the Dream Theater albums, except one , only because I haven't found it yet. I also have his instructional video, which is very good, as you probably know. A truly top-notch player!

Trust me, it is worth it!

Check it out, this is my favorite song so far off the album, I have only listened to 3 of the songs though. The other two easily rank in the top 10 instrumentals for me, though, they are The Glasgow Kiss and Jaws of Life.

Really good song! I've heard it before, somewhere. John is not only technically ridiculous, he's also very musical. These guys that gig all the time are so good. Playing live is the key to becoming better faster. One of these days...

One of the most amazing things for me is that he not only makes intrincated and very difficults stuff... he mixes it with wonderfull melodies in his songs. I like his solo album and also the Liquid Tension's albums. Petrucci is Great! smile.gif

Suspended Animation is easily one of the most beautiful displays of musicianship ever.

Great hook on this album, great tone too. But I still prefer him in DT and LTE.
