GP 6 works great on Win7 x64 for me. I haven't tried it on vista but I suppose I could test the demo on that system if I remember to do so.
Are you keeping vista up to date? I haven't heard of any real new/current problems with vista lately. -------------------- ::jafomatic

I don't use it as heavily as you do, since I don't make lessons with it, so I don't think I'd be qualified to say that it is (or is not) worth it. I can say that the workflow and UI are greatly improved, the software updater is greatly improved, and the stability of the application seems to have been raised to a commercial quality. The sound is also much better.

On Vista I had so many bugs with GP files that contained midi changes (the red dots), and audio problems, freezes, errors, that I just uninstalled it.

FOr me, compatibility issue is always very impotant. If all previous file versions are supported, it's good, but GP never had that tradition.

If all previous file versions are supported, it's good, but GP never had that tradition. GP5 opens .gp4 and .gp3 files with no problem, at least the ones I tried. I guess GP6 will open old version files too, if not it would be a huge drawback! -------------------- Guitars:

Yes I have.
I use it only for the GMC lessons and it workes fine. It opens other version like gp.5, gp4. gp.3 without any problem. It has a automatic update program so I bugs are reported and there is a bugfix you can downlaod it automaticly. I don't know how it works with midi because I don't know how to do that. I seems our friend Sollesnes has having problems with it. -------------------- Gear:

I don't think you will have any problems upgrading to version 6 and using it on Vista. Vista is a stable system right now. I won't be upgrading to new Guitar Pro until I really need to...Though new interface and features look interesting.

I'm talking about forwards, not backwards compatibility. What this means is that Guitar Pro 5 could not open GP 5.2 files. This is consider a huge drawback. All the files created with newer version should be able to open (possibly not with all the features, but still open) with older version.
