Famous songs/riffs/solos is something that has been requested quite a few times.
Some of you might remember that we published "http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-guitar/smoke-on-the-water-deep-purple/" a while back. This lesson does not contain any tabs for legal reasons.
We have yet a new lesson coming up soon - AC/DC Back In Black riffs by Joe Kataldo.
The idea is to try a few more famous song lessons to see what response and interest there is - hopefully we will be able to put together a section with "famous" lessons.
However - as you will notice, we cannot have any tabs in these lessons - so they will be structured a bit differently.
Stay tuned!
Sounds awesome
I'm looking forward to this
This is going to be a great addition to the site! Lot's of people are looking for lessons about famous songs anyway so this is a great tactic to attract more beginner/intermed guitarists.
This sounds cool great Idea.
This would give new members/prospective members something that they associate with. That way, they can work on something that they are familiar with, opening the door to all the other great lessons on the site. Good idea. You already know it's a good idea though.
Everyone asks me if there are famous songs on GMC , I think they will be thrilled to see this new feature!!
Very great news Kris!
Great news!
yay
Great!
I'm looking forward to seeing this!
Sounds like a great add
This will be great addition to the site and bring more members interested in playing cover music !
Hey Kristofer, I know some sites, for instance Justin guitar, does have tab and video. He says I"m not sure wehter it's legal, but if someone says I should take it off, I'll just take it off. That way he has tabs and video on his site for ages!
HI guys, we all should say thanks to Kris for this great Add, I'm sure it's not easy deal with royalty, copyrighted material and stuff like that.
I wanna keep you updated about next Famous Song lessons I'm working on:
Dream On
layla
Master of puppets
Kashmire
Sweet Home Alabama
Rebel Yell
burn
I'll see the light tonight
Rising Force
Fear of the dark
Johnny B Good
Wherever I May Roam
Black Dog
Stairway to heaven
and more...so stay tuned on GMC
Joe Kataldo.
It's so weird that companies will let the sound of a certain song be published for these purposes, but not the tablature. I would think that they would be more lenient with the tablature, and make you pay out for the sound and video publication.
But I guess that's why I'm not an entrepreneur.
Very easy explanations despite not having tabs in the lesson by the way!
awesome, it would be great if you could do some Nirvana
This is a WONDERFUL idea!!!
Marcus is right - we pay a fee for sound and video. Unfortunately there is no one fee to pay for tabs - instead we have to contact each and every publisher and ask for permission + agree on a fee. We did this to give you some Blind Guardian tabs - and it took us about six months of work to get the rights for four BG songs.
Great to see there is such a good response on Joe's list by the way!
Four Blind Guardian songs? I will now stay in front of the screen and press F5 every 5 second waiting for them to come It is a great feature to learn some famous songs. Although I love GMC lessons anyway, playing known songs is more entertaining for "normal no guitar driven people".
I love the concept! It will definetly attract an even wider audience ^^
A Fear of the Dark lesson? Awesome! I allready know it by heart, but anyway
Great news! I've been waiting a long time for that! Another reason to join to GMC!
y are having tabs copyright infringement?
This is excellent news, looking forward to them!
Hey Guys I've posted a thread on my personal board for Famous Song Lessons Requests
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=26900
Please let's keep it clean, just post album and song name and which part of the song (ex. Main Riff, Intro, solo etc.)
There are many good tabs for famous songs out there, so just use the video to see how its played and get the tab from another source when needed. ;-) just an idea
At last ! This is indeed a very good idea... Are you sure we can't have tabs, though ? On www.ultimate-guitar.com it's possible to get any song tab for free, so I don't really see any problem with eventually using tabs... Pardon my ignorance, as I am not an expert on the legal/illegal aspect of teaching...
