It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does.

Pantera appeared in '81, so they couldn't be the last band the appeared...

Nevermore and Opeth were last bands that had fresh ideas and brought something new, mystical into this world of modern "metalic" MTV mutants IMAO...They're not that GREAT in terms of commercial succes, as of their greatness in terms of influence on new musicians...

Our very own instructor's band!!! Not that new, as they appeared in '84, but no one could even get close to them in terms greatness.

I dont know if they were the last great metal band but when I first heard 'Walk' and 'F***ing Hostile' I thought it was the most awesome metal Id ever heard. Even now when I play those two song in particular they still make me want to punch people in the face smile.gif
Im not sure if two songs can be anymore perfect!

I like how they incorporated progressive, folk, blues, classical and jazz influences into their usually lengthy compositions, as well as noticeable influences from black metal and death metal ...

I'm not a great Metal fan so i might be wrong, but i liked a number of more modern heavy bands, like Korn, Slipknot and Mastodon.

I don't know if they are GREAT though, but i really like them rolleyes.gif

I'm too old for other bands though, like Asking Alexandria, Trivium and "Black Veil don't know what", i found them false or something, don't know why dry.gif

That doesn't come with age mate, I also consider them (and metalcore bands in general) false, and I'm only 15.
It seems to me, it's not really metal, it's rather a modern version of grunge.
