I would love to have a Nuno Bettencourt, George Lynch and Zakk Wylde lesson series. Are there any instructors willing to jump on these?
Brad
I'd really love a J. Mascis lesson...
[edit] by the way here's a http://youtube.com/watch?v=O6RYr8BpiGM if you don't know mascis, but there seems to be few videos of them so really the best way to get to know mascis is to listen to their albums! He's great!
OH! And a slide lesson.
Yes, such in the style of lessons would be awesome!
I don't know if you have seen it, but I have done a not-always-so-serious Zakk Wylde style lesson:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=odQb8ylYstg
Kris
HAHAHAHA...Kris, your zakk wylde style lesson is awsome, you remind me borat lol
An Andy timmons lesson would be great
hmmm....if i could make specific recomendations based on all the instructors here it would look something like this
Since kris is busy keepin up with the site i wont put one for him but im just brainstorming here.
Gabriel- Michael Romeo ?
Pavel- Rhapsody Michael angelo batio ?
Sean- idk , you seem pretty good in the metal/neoclassical genre, any artist you like
Walliman- what ever you want. no ideas yet
David O- Man def. id have to say John Mayer style lesson for you. I think it suits your bluesy, country feel, maybe John5 chicken pickin lesson , or possibly Keith Urban? Really has some good riffs.
But I think were in Desperate need of a Joe Satriani* lesson.
Regards- John
Eat-Sleep-Jam: That's an interesting list - let's see if the instructors agree!
Kris
Van Halen, Kirk Hammett......tapping lessons...ive alrdy seen the ones you have kris on youtube...but i mean more advicanced ...or soemthing...idk..just more tpaping lessons
and i also agree..ANDY TIMMONS....but then again..his big influence is jimi hendrix..so i guess a jimi hendrix...style lesson also..
I can say that we have got a tapping lesson coming up veeery soon... no hints given!!
FRICKENNN SWEET....
edit: "all day i dream about sex" lol sorry the adidas soccer shirt..got me thinking about that song by korn
Good ideas here!! I will listen again to my old The divine wings of tragedy album!
Kris... I have my suspicions....
How about something in the style of The Who.... like a more riff oriented kind of lesson.
Hmm I think Kris might fit the part for a Van Halen lesson. Some fat guy on youtube plays Van halen really well in his garage. Ill find a link .
-John
lol
I think we really should do a Judas Priest in the style of. I think Pavel, Gabriel, David, Or Sean would be able to do a good lesson with some classic Tipton and Downing tricks, Pinch Harmonic Riffs, Tapping, And Sweeps Mixed with string skipping, along with there signature guitar harmonies.
We reeaallly need a dave mustaine style thrash metal lesson, or something megadethy
Yeah, A Dave Mustaine lesson would kick some major ass.
We also need a Marty friedman lesson
A Jimmy Page style lesson would be awesome!
Anything more from Lavendell would be awesome. He just made his first brand new lesson and I already want more!
how about a rage against the machine lesson
Eric Johnson, the crazy string skips and how the hell to manage them smoothly and fast.
nobody has done a tom morello lesson yet
I'd still like to see an old Rush/ Alex lifeson lesson.
Say, Caress of Steel, Hemispheres or Permanent Waves
I know Yngwie style lesasons have already been done, but has anyone seen Marcus Lavendell's videos on Youtube? He does some amazing Yngwie covers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZrxJMeCxVQ
idk u guys but id like a Dave Mustaine style lesson . I like his riffs alot, and a lesson like this could help me/us write strong aggressive metal riffs wich i tend to lack sometimes.
EDIT: Oh, i noticed there were already some Dave Mustaine ideas, so, i second Dave Mustaine!
yes definitly some dave mustaine stuff
I Would like a Brian May Lesson
and possibly some chris poland
how about frank gambale? anybody know this guy? never seen anything about him on this site. he is the sweep master. he also has a video on modes, in which he does example improv solos in each mode. here is one of them on the phyrigian, but you check them all out, seeing as they are all youtubed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8a7b-XOYeQ
sorry, try this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8a7b-XOYeQ
Honestly I think these would be great "in style of lessons":
Trey Anastasio(Phish)- This could be a great lesson on improvision and mode work.
Jerry Garcia(Grateful Dead)- Same concept of guitar playing except a little more complex and jazz oriented than Trey
Jimi Hendrix- This would be a great blues lesson for Gabriel to add in cuz I know hes made a lot of great blues licks lessons in the past.
Kurt Cobain- I was thinking this lesson could be good for more melodic type of soloing over a chored progression (sort of like the john frusciante lesson that Gabriel did)
Bob Marley- I know theres a lot of new great genres coming into the mix and learning reggae chords is great to have in any guitar players skills
Funk Lesson- Another great genre to try out.
Just some ideas floating around... Tom
Pearl Jam
I agree with pretty much everything anastasio said. I love anastasio btw, stash was one of the first songs I learned.
i know that there already is a lesson on Kirk but i was wondering if you guys could do like a metallica lesson maybe not concentrating as much on the solos but on their actual riffs and stuff i dno its just an idea
How about a funk lesson, ace frehley, george lynch or slash? A lesson inspired from YES, Asia or Genesis would be cool too.
I would like a lesson in the style of Dan Donegan from Disturbed. He has some great riffs and solos, but I'd liek to have a riff oriented lesson on him.
Hey we got some great lessons on Petrucci, and Malmsteen. Two very well-known guitarists, but my question here is why dont we have a steve vai lesson, or a Rusty Cooley lesson???? I know everybody really likes these guys. Have we just neglected them?? And the other many great guitarists that we could learn so much from. SRV(Not a big fan or nothing, but i bet i could learn a lot from him), Hendrix(Again not another big fan, but I would defnitly learn something from it), Slash (I know kris has a lesson on how to play like him, but we still need a in the style of lesson on him), Jason Becker, and Andy Timmons. Those are just to name a few guitarists, but what about amazing bands?? Like Pearl Jam, Metallica (not a big fan, but still great band), Symphony X, Bush (sorry thats a personal one ), and the many others that i obvisouly cannot think of right now because im tired!!
Why dont we have lessons on those guitarists because i know everbody likes them in one way or another, or how about those bands???
Edit: Its just a question!!
And also add to the list of guitarists. Shawn Lane!!
I'll second the Mustaine idea. Also, perhaps an Alexi Laiho lesson? Dimebag even?
A micheal angelo batio lesson!
For advanced players
any of these would be amazing
Jimi Hendrix
Buddy Guy (horrible tone but still would be good)
Carlos Santana (same problem as Buddy but still would be cool)
Robert Cray
Stevie Ray
Dimebag Darrell
Paul Gilbert
Alexi Laiho
Well. Gmc still needs........
1.Shawn Lane Legato Lesson
2.In the style of eddie van halen
3.An in depth dimebag lesson
4. Paul Gilbert Pentantonic runs/ some 'intense crap your pants " string skipping licks.
5. Joe Satriani lesson would be godly.
Yeah I mean those IMHO are must haves here at Gmc.
Agreed ?
- John
Well i think the GMC instructors are definitely gonna have their hands full pleasing everybody, but at least we gave them more than enough suggestions...
I would like a "Brian May" in style of lesson.
He uses several techniques which I would love to learn.
He also has a special set-up wich I want to create.
So my request would be a Brian May kanda lesson
Regards
We really need some tuition in the Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) school of guitaring. His playing in 'Like Suicide' off the Superunknown album and particularly the solo is one of my favourite guitar pieces ever, it's so emotive, very angry with fab wah wah. He plays using unusual modes with an Eastern influence and a lot of open c tuning I think. It would be a great change from the normal western bluesy or neo-classical lines.
Come on guitarmasterclass how about some Kim Thayil?????
I´d love to see a new Steve Vai lesson. I mean: legato, tapping, pinch-harmonics, a lot of modulations, fast runs,... . Also, it would be great for me to see a Carlos Santana lesson.
I hope it is realizeable.
What about a Blind Guardian style lesson?
A Bullet for my valentine lesson....
A **beginner** Knopfler lesson please !
that would be hella cool!!!
Adam Jones (Tool)
I 2nd Morello / RATM
I 2nd Kim Thayil
I 2nd Pearl Jam
James Hetfield
...and all in the beginner to intermediate category, challenging but not too tough....that's not too much to ask is it?
Hi at all,
Steve Ray Vaughan
Alvin Lee
Mark Knopfler
Style of "Santana"?
steve lukather!!!! emotion, speed and coolness
Keziah Jones !!!
Very good for slides and rythm !
I tried the main riff of "Where's Life" this morning (a night revelation) and it rocks !!! (it funks ?).
I think we need a damn tony iommi lesson.
a zakk wylde one different than kris'?
Jeff Loomis of Nevermore lesson .I doubt i will see this one on here, especially since the only way it can be made is with a seven string.Pavel is the only one i know with a seven string on the way
And ofcourse you have all heard it before but whoever makes the Pantera lesson will make many many people on gmc happy,as long as they do it right
Dave Mustaine!!!!!!!!
More in style of Joe Satriani, legato's or the pentatonic riffs of him
In the style of Steve Vai
I dont know if this has been mentioned before but an Alex Lifeson(Rush) Lesson would kick ass.
i would like a jason becker lesson
muris, you`re the man =)
A completely old school fingerpicking acoustic blues style lesson with perhaps even some bottleneck and with nothing but an ol' bucket or something for rythm would have been awesome.
oooh! how about Buckethead and/or Blind Guardian lesson, it'd be a little out of my reach, but it'd be completely infinitely awesome!
Michael Angelo Batio and Jason Becker
I think AC/DC would be great, not difficult at all.
cob, in flames, pantera and some black metal stuff would have been great
I second the AC/DC (Angus Young) style. I just love the way he plays!
I third AC\DC, they just ROCK so hard! and yes, we NEED a buckethead lesson!
No, but it will be enough to keep you busy for a while!
