GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ What Video Game Have You Spent The Most Time On?

Posted by: The Uncreator Aug 18 2010, 05:51 PM

Inspired by a few other posts in one of the other threads I made, I thought this would be a good topic. I think the geeks will truly reveal themselves now laugh.gif

So, if you know how many hours, days, or months (if the game counts them) you have clocked on your most played game - Post them here. smile.gif

For me its a no brainer.

Final Fantasy VII - 3,034 hours - Play it at least twice a year, and have been doing so for the past 13 years. Its about 175-200 hours if you want to complete everything in the game, Which I've done several times. Chocobo breeding can change that by a factor of 10-15 hours alone though laugh.gif

Final Fantasy X- My favorite game smile.gif Spent 190 hours on it and most hours were just to defeat the optional boss Penance

Posted by: The Uncreator Aug 18 2010, 06:39 PM

Also, one of the best musical scores as well.

My list is long, but I guess the one I played the most is a MMORPG called Asheron's Call. Around 3,000 hours or so!

I also played a lot of WoW and Raven Shield smile.gif

Bro...that's almost 76 full 40 hour work weeks! ohmy.gif

Posted by: The Uncreator Aug 18 2010, 10:55 PM

But, I would like to add that it was done over the course of 13 years smile.gif

There are some WOW players who have over a year logged on it, and that game is only a few years old.

you see, I only played games in the 90's tongue.gif

I would say King of fighters, heheh, and Street fighter

Gameboy Advance System. A nice RPG. Very relaxing for me.

I can spend a minimum of 20 hours on each game if I go fast. But If I take my time it could go to 40 hours and up!

Same here, and just a few times. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

If you look at SAT scores over the past decades in the US, Math scores have risen moderately, and at the same time Verbal scores have dropped precipitously. Typically students who take the SAT do go to college. Students learn math in school as they always have, however if they are going to develop verbal/analytical skills, they have to learn a lot of that at home reading books.

Posted by: The Uncreator Aug 19 2010, 06:21 AM

I'd like to point out that playing tons of RPG's which required reading helped me develop my interest in reading books. Now I read about 2-3 books a month, sometimes more. Video games do not waste away minds, Minds are wasted away on video games - And there is a difference between the two.

EDIT

I'd also like to add that I believe the majority of people probably don't know how to conserve time with games. If done right, playing video games can even be beneficial to the human mind. smile.gif

All the LOL, ROFL, TS, BUMP's and abbrevations would make any kid confused. Why spell out the entire word like the "old people"?
You did a good thing, looks to me you kicked Uncreator in the direction to pick up on aln old dream of writing a book smile.gif

Posted by: The Uncreator Aug 19 2010, 07:27 AM

Hold on a sec, Don't I have to be old for my dreams to be old? laugh.gif

Posted by: audiopaal Aug 19 2010, 07:30 AM

Quake, hands down laugh.gif
I used to play many hours a day for many years,
travelling around the country attending LAN parties etc.

Played in three different clans, and even had a match for the norwegian national quake team (modem players)
against Sweden, where we unfortunately lost laugh.gif

Final Fantasy VII & VIII is right up there though..

For those who think video games are bad for your english skills, I have no idea what your talking about!

I think my English Teacher has just always has it out for me...

It's not my fault the Teacher doesn't know 100% grammer correct Elite Speak.

Translation: i can speak in perfect elite speak! all you need for today's life! those that don't play enough games have the issues with basic reading and writing.

I also know binary, a collection of programming and web languages, text message, internet slang, short hand abbrevations, etc. What more do they want from me!

Posted by: Trond Vold Aug 20 2010, 01:46 AM

Quake! ..or to be technical, QuakeWorld.
Spent most part of the late 90's and early 00's glued to that game smile.gif

Newer games are probably better made and better to look at, but so far i havent found a single game thats more playable. It's been 14 years since it came out, and i still play it from time to time.

The game is six years old this november. Plenty long enough for a truly addicted person to rack up 3 years worth of online time. My wife, for example, hasn't 3 years worth I think, but she's probably close to that if we tally up her /played.

I quit in spring of 2009, just before joining GMC, but that's probably the "video" game I spent the most time playing.

Posted by: Andrew Cockburn Aug 20 2010, 02:33 AM

WoW for me - I succumbed a few months ago and have logged a fair amount of time since then!

Posted by: Kristian Hyvarinen Aug 20 2010, 06:18 AM

There are lots of games I like, but the prize goes to Final Fantasy X here, too: if I remember right, some 500 hours.

Man, I'd be quite the guitarist already if I had spent my time on training. biggrin.gif wink.gif

Posted by: Zsolt Galambos Aug 20 2010, 11:04 AM

WoW, without any doubt. I've started out when the lvl cap was only 60, and ended up having a few lvl 80 chars. I was mostly online because of my girlfriend and friends, but got bored and tired of it.

Posted by: Fusar Aug 20 2010, 12:49 PM

Football Manager over years in my summer holidays...too much time smile.gif

Posted by: Chris Evans Aug 20 2010, 01:07 PM

Has to be WoW for me too, I went through a very long spell of Medal of honour online before that, but moved over to WoW when it first came out, played on and off ever since.

I did get bored of it and gave it up for a while but got back into it when a certain Mr Cockburn got me interested in it again! wink.gif

Battlefield Bad Company 2. Switched to this right after hitting level 70 on Modern Warfare. Destructible maps, tanks, helicopters, just killer. Xbox live play can get just insane.

Todd

Football managers earlier but for past couple (maybe 4-5 years) any PES smile.gif

Posted by: Chokehold Aug 20 2010, 04:13 PM

The Halo trilogy, easily.

In Halo 3 I currently have around 7000 matchmaking games played and 1500 custom.

That's a few hours.

Age of Mythology. Too much. Way too much. Miss it. xD

Posted by: Vasilije Vukmirovic Aug 22 2010, 01:07 PM

On Commodore Snoopy, on SegaMega Mortal Combat, on Playstation NBA libe98...
That was years ago when I used to play games smile.gif

Tetris 64.

The game my interest was most invested in: Simon's Quest. Wish that game was as long as games are these days......loved that game!
