Hi guys,

Here's a short instrumental I've just recorded yesterday.
I came up with this rhythm part and thought at first that it was in A minor.
It was only when I made the melody that I found that it was in fact in B Locrian.
Thanks Ear Training and Theory! biggrin.gif

Yeah! Definitely has a Locrian vibe! I personally love this type of evil sounding riff. 🤘

Another cool thing you can try is a riff with E Phrygian dominant notes:

---------------
---------------
---------------
---------------
-------2-3-----
-0-1-4---------

And these chords:

---------------
---------------
---------------
---------------
-2-3-----------
-0-1-----------

You can then jam using E minor pentatonic scale or even better A Harmonic minor 👌

Keep it up mate!

Congrats on putting it together! Every single song you create is a victory. Completing songs, even short ones, is something not many folks actually end up doing. Despite the fact that it's the main reason to learn to play an instrument smile.gif Musical self expression. I like the vibe! Maybe share the backing? I"m sure folks might wanna try it!

Hi Rids! Cool! I like the dark vibes of this tune. It reminds me to some bands that I've used to listen like Katatonia and Anathema. I can also hear those Locrian vibes here. Are you planning to continue this one?

Thanks Gab!
I want to developp my aural skills and knowledge of theory.
I did three short songs in a row and recorded them (one in a major key, one in a minor key and this last one). They are on my Youtube channel.
I'm planning on doing some serious songwriting in the near future (drums and midi programming).

I keep these ideas and will definitely extend the ones I love the most.

I will check these bands, I've never heard of them. Thanks!
