Hello. My Jackson SLSMG is making static noise sometimes when I'm playing. What is causing this?
I opened the back where the wires are and I don't see any loose connection right off. But I'm sure it's something of that sort that I'm not aware of.
Could be a bad cable.
Well...I thought that as well....but I switched out the cable for another one I had and it does the same thing. But I guess it's possible that both a going out? It just seems like it's my guitar. If it is, do you guys know what I might be?
Maybe it's the string hitting the neck on some place, it is very easy to spot this. I had the same problem, strange untraceable noise, and it disappeared after I put 9s.
You have to open the back off the guitar ..there's a loose connection probably where the cable goes in.
But it's not the cable it self ....it's your connection in the guitar that is loosening .....or a wire on your pick ups.

moving around didn't help?
Like Bossie said, sounds a lot like the connect for the guitar jack. The issue with them is sometimes they come a little loose (unscrewed). Does it rotate a bit? Don't twist it too much! Twisting causes the wires inside to become loose. Normally it will start rotating in one direct wrapping the wire around inside. Sometimes it can even break.
If it's got screws around the jack, take them off and ensure it's straight and the wires not starting to wrap around or breaking. Use a long nose plier (in reverse) placed inside the jack gentle holding the middle while tightening the screw and washer around it (it shouldn't rotate at all).
Its probably a loose guitar jack/connector. But if you are not good at changing such parts it may be wise to take it to the shop to have it fixed. I'm pretty sure it should be a cheap fix.
If you think its the jack, then try spraying some contact cleaner in there.
Did you open the plug socket to check the connections there?
No, I didn't really look at much. I was kinda hesitant; I didn't want to hurt the wiring further because I didn't know what I was really doing. It most definitely is the wiring. Makes the noise through both of my amps. You can actually hear it at the end of my http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=22023 composition. It started doing that static sound and I thought I'd add it at the end for effect. So there's a bit of bonus material for ya!
