Hehe don't get me started on this topic smile.gif

I'll just say I'm a huge fan of pinball and I try to find machines "in the wild" and play them wherever I get a chance.
The pinball has quite a sad story nowadays and video games did manage to kill it back in the days. When I was a kid I always preferred pinball over video games in the arcade. I like the unpredictability every game brings and how everything is real about it.

I was lucky to own 2 machines out of which I sold one relatively recently and kept the other one. They were Fish Tales and Earthshaker (which I kept). Beat up pinball machines appear to be much much cheaper in my country than in other parts of the Europe or US. They are quickly disappearing because of this as they are usually exported (the one I sold was also taken to another country).

I know a few tricks and things about machines and their maintenance, if anyone needs any tips.

Mine would probably (I like them all hehe) be: Mousing Around, White Water, Addams Family and Twilight Zone

That's great, Bogdan!

I wish I had a real machine! A long time ago I had a friend with a real machine (very old), and in many ways I think it was more fun than the new ones!

Playing Pinball Arcade on my Mac really takes me back in time, and it's not the same as a real machine, but it's pretty good!!!

Gor-Gar!!!!!

That is an awesome game - I enjoy playing the demos and free table of the month smile.gif
It is very cool that they use original software of the games so they are pretty much identical to real machines gameplay/rules/sound etc wise. Too bad the graphics and physics are not better though. There is a very old pinball game for PC called Pro Pinball Timeshock. For some reason that game featured amazing graphics (and still does!) as well as physics. Not sure why they couldn't recreate the quality of it in other pin games on the computers etc.

My family used to have a Twilight Zone machine when I was growing up, we had it for years. My dad sold it about a year ago as he's selling our family home. I was going to take the machine and keep it at my place, but I literally couldn't fit it in the house, the only place for it to go was upstairs and it was too big to fit around the corner at the top of the stairs. I'd of had to of sawn it in half! heh.

If you get chance to try one they're fantastic machines. In-fact the model on Pinball Arcade is pretty close, there's a handful of differences to the real machine but it's nearly identical.

I've never tried that star trek one in real life, but it's a great machine on pinball arcade. I have tried the Terminator 2 machine and the Addams family machines in real life, but a very long time ago.

Twilight Zone is great!

Lately I've been playing a lot of Black Knight, Gor Gar, and Terminator 2.

Really takes me back in time!

But if you really want to play an arcade game instead of pinball...

Oh they have Paperboy there! There goes my sleep laugh.gif

I've played Terminator 2 a few times live, its an awesome machine. Love how they conveyed the movie atmosphere using lots of metal on the playfield.

My "dream" is to have only one machine in my home but an awesome one in good condition. I like when a pinball machine has lots of rules and "wizzard mode" you strive for. For example I have only managed to get the super jackpot on my ex ( sad.gif ) Fish tales a handful of times. Out of those type of machines Addams Family, Twilight Zone and Whitewater are pretty complex ones and Star Track should be the ultimate one in that department (I played 2 games on it at sellers house when I was getting one of my machines). I like when the machine is "unbeatable". This keeps me coming back for more.

I don't like the new Stern pinballs though - something "wrong" with them. Them seem to be somehow "cheaper" even though I'd expect them to be technically more advanced and cooler. Graphics are not that cool or high quality as on Williams machines and also themes and gameplay is rather boring. Most of them I played were not in that good condition so it might be that I didn't get a chance to get into them more. They are famous for having deeper rules though (machines like Lord of the rings or Simpsons Party).

One good thing about the software versions - Nothing is broken!

Besides Gor Gar, the machines I remember most growing up were

Space Invaders

and I always wanted Airborne Avenger - Anybody remember that Atari made pinball machines, too?

As for video games, I always loved Donkey Kong, and a strange one called Crazy Climber where you would climb up the outside of a building where people would try to close windows on your fingers, and birds would crap on you!
