8. Adrian Smith - Soooo freakin good tone and phrasing.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rAWb1e3aU1s

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zcm8Ee4-3M0

15. B.B. King - The one and only. Noone can make the sounds he does. He kicks any shredders ass

17. Dave Murray - His tone and playing is like warm butter.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=geEWHhIiIOQ

Ok, here's my list, and I won't be going after skill at all, I'm going after what they actually play, so skill is a bonus, but not a must in my list. smile.gif I'll write the names and what I love them for (it doesn't have to be thair main band).

1. Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)
2. Don Anderson (Agalloch)
3. Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree)
4. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
5-6. Munaf Rayani and Mark Smith (Explosions in the Sky)
7. Peter Lindgren (Opeth)
8. Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill music, even though I never played a silent hill game (thanks Gen biggrin.gif ))
9. Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity and about 500 other bands)*
10. John McLaughlin (The Mahavishnu Orchestra, and for him just being himself)
11. Håvard Jørgensen (Ulver!)
12. Varg Vikernes (aka Burzum)
13. John Haughm (Agalloch)*
14. Buckethead (himself)
15. David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
16. Slash (Guns 'N Roses)
17. Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous)
18. Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society)
19. Johannes Persson (Cult of Luna)*
20. Anders Nyström (aka Blakkheim) (Katatonia, Bloodbath)

Ugh, making this list was really hard, but I think I'm happy with it as it is now.

EDIT: Removed the number 18 that was mysteriously hiding under everything else.

EDIT2: Added a * wich means that I have a feeling I put them on there because they are awesome musicians, and not only awesome guitarists. I'm sorry for that mistake, but I suck at making lists laugh.gif

And some honary mentions: Tom Morello, John Petrucci, Björn Berge (I'm hooked now, thanks Robin).

Interesting and different list. Varg Vikernes, Øystein Årseth, Nocturno Culto and Gylve "Fenriz" Nagell, you wont find better riff makers than them on this planet.

Yeah, I thought about having nocturno culto and fenriz aswell, but there just wasn't enough room on the list biggrin.gif

And, well, I really don't care about widdly woo guitarists and legends, I like what I like and what they do not their technique, so my list might not be the most technical (even though buckethead is up there!), but it's what I like smile.gif

Spidey, This is a woderful idea, so well done on that.

The thing is, I only have around 10 guitarists on my list! And only 6 or 7 of those I really like. Anything else would just be filler! Do you still want me list? wink.gif
