Hey guys,
I finally realized that I need a new amp...and I found one for well....isn't guitar stuff always a little more than you can actually afford
Anyway, it's Marshall's MG100DFX....it's a 100 watt amp with one 12 in it. However, I could pay a little more and get Marshall's MG250DFX. It's also a 100 watt amp but with two 12's with 50 watts each. I went and tested the 100DFX and no joke..the tone was amazing...purely. I seriously had to unplug my distortion pedals since the overdrive and distortion on the amp was giving a better tone all around. So, if anyone had/has used this amp....please shine some light my way to which would be a better investment all-around. Thanks.

I don't think the DFX range is good so I'd suggest you buy the cheaper one.
Which one are you talking about MickeM? They are both DFX's the 250 or the 100? Since you said that I should go for the cheaper one...I"m assuming you don't think that the 250 will give out as much as the 100. Understandable, do you have any knowledge on amps to help with you judgment? I will prob. go with the 100 but the 250 costs more..and even though price isn't everything...I was assuming it might be better for certain things. I"m assuming that you might get a bit more of a stereo effect and that's all.
I would go all tube amp also. I have a Marshall VS65R valvestate and have played several other non tube Marshalls. They just don't cut it for me. My amp is a good practice amp, but for tone ..... it sucks. Most of the non tube Marshalls I have played have an ok clean channel, OD lacks warmth and depth for me. They all sound tinny and muddy. Just my 2 cents , but go for tubes, your sound will love you for it
Ive tried out the Marshall AVT 50H. Solid state head but i guess they designed it as a tube sound. Pretty good IMO. Thinking of actually buying it. What do ou guys think bout it?

Vince, for 4k why not check out the bad cat 30watt with matching 2x12 cab ??
i'd say no to both of those amps and get something a little more legit but if you are seriously going to get one get the smaller one. you will have NO need for all the extra watts.
You can do much better than an MG series for that kind of money. Get a good tube combo like a Peavey Valveking or a modelling amp, for example the Line6 Spider III.
Lots of good points here guys. I deff. appreciate all the advice. To be honest, I would much rather wait a little while longer and save up for something more decent...no biggie. I'm just looking for an amp that has amazing tone....and it's versatile. I want something that I can just practice with at my house and also use in a Garage Band type setting. So I know I'm starting over again, but some ideas would be amazing too. I've played guitar for a while now...BUT I have a sound guy that's been at this Church that I play at; he's like "you just play!!"......hmph. So know I know squat about all the tech. aspects of guitar. So, let me know what you think would be a pretty good all-around versatile amp that I could try. Like I said, I could wait a little longer and get the better amp...but which one should it be . Post your reply. Thanks.
i think awesome mid-priced amps include Line 6's new spider valve series and the Peavy ValveKing series.
I nearly bought a valveking, I hear they are very good!!
