Hi Muris! I'm back after some serious practicing to a metronome and fumbling around with Cubase.
After your mixolydian experience I went back to my 4 basic scales, timing, AP etc.etc.
Now I would like to make a little request: would it be possible to have a beginner lesson still in those scales but with some more basic techniques like simple tapping, bendings, and whatever comes to your mind?
That would be very nice and it would "spice up" my practicing routine. smile.gif
As always, thank you very much for everything you're teaching me.
Cheers, Eddie

If I got you right Eddie, you would like Mixolydian lesson
with many techniques mixed in beginner level,or it could be some other scale as well?

Hi Muris!
The best for me would be in any of the 4 basic scales: Penta maj/minor or Ionian/Aeolian.
I did your Collaboration in A using Mixolydian, but it was just an attempt.
It's too soon to get confused, right? smile.gif
Cheers, Eddie

Hello Muris!
Your B major techniques lesson is awesome!
I'm still practicing your Bb minor beginner lesson, because I want to nail it perfectly at 72 bpm.
As you heared on my recording it's far from being perfect, mad.gif
but I also started your B major lesson at 40 bpm. Man, it's tough!
One question: if I just practice the tapping part I naturally go for it with my index
but I see you do it with your middle finger, I guess not to have to put your pick down.
So should I force myself to do it with my middlefinger as well?
Is it the best thing to do ? Sorry, but I just want to make things right!
Thank you once again.
Don't know you, but I'm SOOO glad you're back! smile.gif
Cheers, Eddie

Thanks for warm welcome Eddie!!!! smile.gif

You said it well,it's only cause not to drop the pick,
or to have it ready if soon after that we have some nasty picking.
Use index if it feel more comfortable for you,no worries. smile.gif

Hi there,

I want to thank Eddie for requesting this lesson, and Muris for making it(B major phrasing). I was practicing your Bb minor intermidiate but I was having a lot of trouble putting it together, and I thing this one will help me a lot to nail the Bb lesson. I already learnt the lesson now I have to play it at tempo, Im having a problems with that but i think is just a litle more of practice. As soon as I have it I¿ll post a video so you can tell me what Im doing right and doing wrong.

So thanks again, and welcome back Muris.

Bye.

Wow, someone thanking me?!
You're welcome, Coffeeman!!! laugh.gif
Now it's your turn to ask Muris for a lesson!

Muris, I think I'll practice it with my middlefinger: "if Muris does it, Eddie does it!" smile.gif
I think it's best to start learning it that way now,
just to avoid having to learn it in the future.
I also have a second question concerning this lesson:
are there any advises you can give me on the fingering to use during sweeps?
Are there any "rules"?
Thank you.
Cheers, Eddie

I have to nail a couple of lessons first but sure I have a list of lesson to ask to Muris. For the sweeps I recomend you practice this Muris Sweep picking lessonand this Pavel sweeping, alternate lesson, those have helped me a lot.

Now here goes my question for Muris, when I tap I make a lot of noise what do you recommend me to make a clean tapping?

Thanks.

First recommendation is more practicing and slower tempo. smile.gif
Then try not to hit strings around while playing taps, must be precise and accurate.

Eddie, fingering is deferent as you change shape of arrpegio/chord.
Basicly just try to follow our guide in lessons and you won't be wrong. smile.gif

Coffeeman, I know that lesson but it's still to advanced!
These beginner lessons are great because there are only a few sweeps I can concentrate on.

For Muris: you're right. I'll just follow your example for sweeps also,
that's why I'm forcing myself to learn tapping with my middlefinger! smile.gif
Have a great day!
Eddie

Hi Muris, I started your B major lesson at 40...
Man it's tough!!!
One question: while you tap, are you muting the strings with your right hand?
In other words, is your right hand resting on the strings?
I can't tell from the video, sorry.
Thank you very much.

I guess I'm not resting it on strings,at least not on purpose.
But resting could be one way of stopping unwanted noise,
another one is left hand muting, try both.

Glad you like the lesson tho! smile.gif

Hi Muris, I finally manged to video myself!
I'm attaching this video just to have some feedback
about my fingering. Obviusly I didn't record it with your BT.
Timing etc. sucks, I know, but I just started learning your lesson,
so I hope that it will get better with time...
Please let me know what you think about my fingering.
I'll post the complete lesson as soon as I've nailed it.
As usual I'l make my own BT! smile.gif

Can't wait for your "one string scale" lesson!

Last few secs really putted grin on my face Eddie. smile.gif

Basicly fingering is fine,at least at slow speed.
Perhaps you could use pinky in first tapping section,
fingering would be 1,2 and 4 than tap, both on B and E string.
It's good to use pinky often,it's very weak finger and needs lots of practice. smile.gif

And than final part, those 3nps "runs".
Same thing, try to have index on every first note on the string and pinky on the last,
that way you only switch between middle and ring finger, depends of semi and whole tones relation.

Good work tho and keep it up,looking forward to whole lesson video!!! smile.gif

Take care

Muris
