I had posted about this a few months back when I decided to sign up for it.A 12 mile mud / obstacle run.I actually can't wait for it.My start time is 8.30 in the morning so I will have to leave about 5.45

There are a couple of obstacles that I am a little nervous about. One being a big pool of water and ice that you have to jump in and put your head under the water to get to the other side.THIS WILL BE FREEZING laugh.gif

The other obstacle is getting electrocuted with 10 000 Volts while army crawling through mud.

Here is a little teaser of the one I am attending

Thanks mate

Just back and it was a great day.The iced water bath was incredibly difficult. A jumped in and as soon as the water got to chest level. I couldn't breathe and was panicking. It was really scary. I managed to do it but it was really hard. You can't really train for that.

Then the noise made by getting electrocuted was really loud. Some people went really slow but I think the best thing to do was just to go for it really fast.

There was a guy that flew in from Poland himself just to do it and one of the guys in my starting group had done it 12 times.

I will definitely be doing it next year to earn my second headband smile.gif

I can imagine the water part having that effect, I tried the ice bath recovery thing when I was training MMA and the sudden shock of it was quite brutal...... did not like mellow.gif I think Id rather be electrocuted!
The tough mudders look very impressive, well done. cool.gif

How long did you do MMA for. I could just imagine how hard and intense training must of been. Did training get in the way of practicing guitar and ever cause any injuries you you hands.

Well I trained in judo for a couple of years before switching to mma for another couple of years. While doing judo I couldnt play guitar at all. it seemed like my fingers were constantly taped up. Theres a lot of grabbing to get hold of the person and it really used to bang up my fingers.
When I moved to MMA it was a lot better in that respect because the submission wrestling training would begin on the ground and it just seemed to be less damaging on the hands compared to judo. Fairly damaging elsewhere though smile.gif occasionally got sore hands from striking but not too much.
I wasnt really playing much guitar at the time so it was cool. I pretty much left the MMA training and decided to concentrate on guitar cool.gif
I prefer the guitar as I dont get my ass kicked quite as much!

Yeah I could imagine feeling a lot of pain soreness especially when you finish your training. It always baffles me how those pro guys can do it for years. It definitely takes a lot of mental grit, heart and dedication. I have a lot of respect for people that do it.

Sticking to guitar sounds like a much more relaxing and enjoyable thing to do mate smile.gif
