Hey Muris.

I tried to record this lesson on the 90 bpm version. It's sloppy, but I thought "what the heck" because I usually push myself to the limits and a bit beyond when I practice, and it seems I've been stuck the last month or two at 90bpm, so I would like some recommendations on what to work on.

Some of the points I'm aware of by listening to it myself is:

- Occasional timing issues (due to the difficulty level tongue.gif )
- Some muting issues
- Sweeping could use some more work
- Speed picking could get more accurate
- General overview of the notes and the ways the different licks interact.

These mistakes are the ones that I can discover, not only when listening to the recording but also when I play it, so I guess that is one step on the road - being able to hear what you suck at laugh.gif

But I would be very appreciative if you could come with some suggestions! smile.gif

EDIT: Video added of different take.

That was one well disciplined take Seagull,I can tell you that!

There are some mistakes but it's related to technique only,
you nailed/learned notes and durations properly
which is first and major topic when practicing something new.
Now just focus a bit more on the parts you have most problems
with and play them countless, kind a looped,
then incorporate it with rest of the lessons and see the result.

However I would appreciate a lot
if you could post a video take,
then I'll be able to give you more in deep suggestions. smile.gif

Thanks for the feedback!

I could make a take with my digital camera, but do you know how I can record only video with the camera and audio with the soundcard interface?

You have to do it just like most of us when recording lessons,
you record video using camera and audio directly to PC in DAW(reaper, cubase, logic etc)
Then you'll have to sync them properly,Windows Movie Maker would do the trick.
Easier way is to record all audio(backing and guitar)to camera using its mic,
it'd be synced that way but audio quality is lower. smile.gif

Thank you very much!

Well, I hadn't been playing fast stuff like this lesson, more the singer-songwriter stuff and classic rock riffs. I've learned a great deal here..smile.gif

Video quality was more than great to see everything you do. smile.gif

So,I see you're laying your pinky(and even ring finger)
on the pickguard, many players play it like that,no doubt.
But when you're struggling with technical parts
such as string skipping and sweeping,
this kind of picking style might cause you some troubles.
Your wrist is still not flexible enough to execute all those skipping/sweeps
and with pinky on the pickguard your picking hand is kind a locked,
cannot move that freely.
Try few times with "closed" fist, that is not entirely closed fist of course,
it just means to remove your finger or few of them OFF the pickguard.
First time when you try it you might feel uncomfortable which is normal,
but you'll benefit a lot in a long term,give it a shot. smile.gif

Now that you say it, I really think youre right! That has caused me some trouble sometimes, and I noticed that you only place your wrist under the palm on the saddle and the rest of the hand lifted. I will focus on that from now on!
I've also been focusing a lot on relaxing in my hands and arms, and I've noticed great improvement by doing so the last couple of months.

Thanks, will return when I have some results! smile.gif

Sure thing, play like that for a while
and you'll see the progress 100%,
plus you'll have more open field for certain licks
that you're struggling with atm,
you're very welcome. smile.gif
