I've seen this a few years back, great documentary. smile.gif
But he fooled the bands he interviewed in Norway, what they said were taken out of context. I remember reading about it in the newspapers little after it came out tongue.gif I think I remember Gorgoroth being the only one not complaining tongue.gif

I didn't know Black metal was such a" mainstream" thing in Norway. I laughed when the customs officer on the airport said "Black metal?"

Oh, it's not. But I guess it is far more common here than other places. Pop, hiphop and trance etc is still mainstream tongue.gif

It seems like "non-headbangers" know the music, but I guess it's because of the facts behind it rather than the music itself.

It would funny to live in a place where black metal is the music accepted by everyone and embraced by religious educational institutions and played on the prom parties at schools biggrin.gif

Yeah, it's the facts they are known for. Burning churches etc.. I was really into black metal when growing up, and I can't even count the amount of times friends parents thought I was a satanist tongue.gif
And yeah, it would be cool! biggrin.gif makes you imagine what extreme metal would exist in such a society though xD

I think it would have to be a parallel universe,

and that's the point of that documentary. That rejection, rebellion is what has made metal what it is. Loved the final statement: "We're fine without you"

I've seen this. This guy did a great job with putting it all together. I also agree that Black Sabbath was the major influence to term "Heavy Metal" but many others also constributed in establishing the term.

Yeah it does have a similar profile, but I love how he showed that even though we all may be different culturally we can come together and bond over something... music.

I like the way he broke down the different genres of metal. That is pretty hard to do and I like something from most of them. Glam rock was good times.
