OUCH - man I love tomatoes. I have one to take to work today for a tomato sandwich - my FAVE! But the tomatoes have to be in season and grown locally - not store brought. And fried green tomatoes are awesome too. We just had an appetizer of them at our anniversary dinner.

Least Favorite food - I love some sushi, but not real fishy sushi, so, octopus and raw salmon. Not a fan of escargot either. Liver or any organ meat - just can't do organ meats.

Also Cilantro - i dash is okay, but anything more tastes like soap. And those little green olives with the pimento on the inside of them, like in martinis.

quiche
I dunno y but I hate it. I like all the ingredients on their own but put it together to make quiche and I hate it.

Another fun food fact. You know Australia is the only country to eat the animals on its coat of arms and emblems. Yeah we tough like that lol,

The only thing I do not like and will only eat very rarely is...I guess it's called horseradish in English. Not too sure though. Otherwise there's nothing I don't eat. I couldn't pick a least favorite if I tried.

In a word - Okra.

Apart from okra I'm quite happy with most anything else. One of my brothers-inlaw tells everone that he isn't fussy about what he eats however he won't eat:

Raw tomatoes unless the skin and pips have been removed.
Cooked tomatoes however they are presented.
Fried onions.
Mushrooms.
Spinach.
Aubergines.
Cauliflower.
Swede.
Parsnip.
Cabbage.
Any type of fish except for tinned tuna, cod and salmon. The cod however has to be fried and it has to be tinned tuna, not fresh, and the tuna must be in spring water not oil.
Any type of seafood.
Spanish food.
Mexican food.
Japanese food.

I always find it funny when people go: "No, I'm not fussy..." and then won't eat anything anyway.

Liver.

I'll give you a point for parsnips. I can eat them, but there is something with the taste I don't quite like.

I also agree somewhat with Spock about cilantro. I can eat it if I have to, but remove it if I can. It has a special taste that I would like to like, but I don't.

Oh, and about time we got ourselves a new food thread!

Oh gawd yea - I forgot about Okra. It's like chewing on a mouthful of thick snot. Even the name... OKRA, like ogre.

But if it's battered and fried it's pretty dang tasty.

I've never tried sushi.

I prefer my fish to be covered in breadcrumbs or batter. In other words, the less that it looks and smells like fish, the better.

Raw salmon.. uurgh... this might just be an England thing but what IS it about the upper class that they all have to eat that stuff ?

It's very hot. Have you tried the sauce that is made from it ?

At first glance it could look like he's a fussy eater but on reflection, if he were to eat at my house none of that stuff would be on the offing anyway. So maybe I'm just as bad !

Having said that, I haven't really tried Mexican food but I know that I would like it. Ditto for much of Spanish cuisine I think. We had some tapas on a school trip many aeons ago.. some of it was lovely. I remember the potato cake stuff the best. Whatever it was, it was very good.

Damn straight. Liver is what I imagine the devil's balls to taste like.

I don't even know what cilantro is. I'll probably hate it anyway.

I think I've avoided all organs thus far.

Oh, except for haggis but haggis is nice.. just a bit too repetitive. You have to mix it up with other stuff like mashed potato.

I'm with the I'm not "fussy" but I kind of am group.

Veggies: I don't eat a whole lot outside of the basics, Mushrooms, Peas, Carrots, ect. So I don't know the weirder ones you talk of, tho I have tried fried okra it's not bad. Then again it is deep fried! I dislike... *drum rolls please* WHOLE TOMATOES! I also stay away from peppers they just sit wrong with me. Had jalapenos in a burrito once and man I felt pretty sick.

Meat: Never had all your headcheese/hog maw/weird animal parts before. Don't plan on trying it either! But I don't like Lamb I've had it a few times and it tastes like blood to me.

Fruit: My enemy if you have seen these posts before... Berries, I do not want to eat a fist full of sand! That weird crunchy seedy bites just kill them for me. Give me a jelly and we are good tho!

Man horsey sauce is amazing! Goes great with a roast beef sandwich. Mmmmm!

Related ...

I do eat all the weird stuff: organs, raw fish, haggis, game meat ... putting it mildly, Los Angeles has a lot of variety.

The only fruit that I don't like to eat is cantaloupe.

Not a fan of sweet potatoes either.

I also dislike raw oysters. Though I can handle them cooked in a spicy seafood gumbo.

I have tried haggis once and that was was actually really good. I also concur that horseradish is awesome on beef and steaks. smile.gif

Well I like probably just about any food if it's made properly & used in a good sense, balanced out properly etc.
E.g. I don't like to eat butter just like that, but I like to use butter in cooking and what not. There are loads of things I find weird on their own, but if you mix it with the right ingredients almost anything can become really tasty, but yeah some of the guys mentioned 'Cilantro', being a huge fan of herbs this one just have to be my least favorite one. Even had to throw out a dish once because the cilantro was just extremely overwhelming & ruined the whole thing.

Besides that I'm not the biggest fan of cold foods, I prefer mine warm & I can't really handle overly hot/spicy food (I get throat burns, hiccups, and funny things like that), but I do like a gently heat here & there.. If it fits the dish.. But as I've said everything made probably, should at least be able to taste somewhat good!
