Hey Guys,
Muris filled up my humble cover of Maiden's wasted years with a solid vocal lead line. It's simply amazing .. He's a great maiden fan and now a part of this tribute Hope you guyz like it. Definitely made my day (Audio only) http://www.box.net/shared/oqxzbdz61q I know very little about this style i.e using guitar to express the vocals, so this is a great learning curve. My cover & vid that I did can be found here Thanks Muris !! Up the Irons Bro !! \m/ This post has been edited by zen: Mar 13 2010, 11:59 AM -------------------- "If the need is deep, you WILL find a way , if it isn't, you'll find some excuse"

Great playing! However, the vid seems to be out of sync sometimes. I enjoyed all time!!!

While we are at it, can someone comment on how to go about learning this style i.e playing vocal lines using the guitar.
I believe the correct phrasing, when to use slide, hammeron, pull off, legatos etc is of utmost important in capturing the feel. I just tried doing the first verse and although it came out ok, it lacked the feel and the emotion .. I'll keep at it. Great Great exercise to do this with any cover, even the simplest ones become a challenge btw, Muris nailed that take out of fun in 5-10 minutes or so while we were in the chatroom -------------------- "If the need is deep, you WILL find a way , if it isn't, you'll find some excuse"

Also you have to know the vocal part almost like you recorded it. The 3rd thing is the experience. Vocal like any other instrument has slides and bends - even picking sometimes It just sounds smoother and different. Then you figure out when to use slide or picking depending on what sounds the most similar when imitating it. In "Maiden" case I think I would be able to do a pretty good job as I know their music very well. This guy took the whole thing a huge step further and played "smoke on the water" using harmonics mostly That's the skill... -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
