GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Need A Small Portable Amp

Hello 
I'm at uni at the moment I have my guitar with me and I'm playing it through garageband at the moment as I left my amp at home, my mum doesnt drive so it's very hard for me to transport heavy things.
Garageband is ok for noob ears like mine, but a lot of the time it goes out of sync with my playing, so I want to get a small amp that would be really easy to take back and forth. I don't have very much maybe about £50 or so, so I'm not expecting anything brilliant.
Could you please give me some recommendations .

You can choose between the diffrent 5 watt amps made by line6,vox or roland. All three of them should be about 50 pounds or slightly more. Those small amps are portable, battery powered and pretty loud for their size! All three of them are modeling amps so you can play any style with them and you have built in effects. Which one you choose is you preference, I took the vox because imo it has the best sound, the line6 has has most variety and the roland has the best quality.

I have the vox AD30VT already, that ones really cute though and would suit my needs but I don't really want to spend money on something I basically have already.
Microcube might be good tho

if you have a portable PC you can line your guitar to the porable ,and install any software like revalver or IK multimedia its a tube amps so you can play with backing track on your portable .

I also had a look the pocket pods, but I'm not entirely sure how they work. Do I just plug my speakers into it?

You can plug your speakers or just some headphones to a pod.
They are a great solution for your needs I would say

It sounds really good through headphones.
Regarding speakers... I guess it depends on the speakers, but it's not bad.
Edit: Forgot to mention, if you decide to get an amp in the end, I also recommend Roland Microcube, I tried one at the local shop a few times and it sounds really good for such a small amp.
