Well anthoney kiedis (sp) the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers had to go into rehab and all sorts of shit for heroin. There old guitarist before John was a guy named Hillel Slovak. Died of a drug overdose. The song Under the Bridge by Rhcp is about Ant's addiction to heroin and how he'd often go under the bridge to buy it.

yeah and frusciante was booted for his continuous heroin use... he didn't rejoin the band until '99. he pretty much wrote the guitar part for under the bridge while he was messed up. he continued to do drugs well after kiedis.

Even the thoughts and ideas for the most recent album Stadium arcadium- Very wild thoughts and logic as to why the named each cd a different planet and even though they may be on drugs , there music means alot to me.

actually they're all cleaned up now... which is awesome! the guy you quoted in your signature is one of my favorite musicians of all time and look how he ended up... if you ever get a chance to read kurt cobain i definitely recommend it... some of the most amazing music of all time was written while the writers were on drugs. and trust me i don't condone drug use!!!! the chili peppers early stuff was definitely their most prolific!

Yeah i love Kurt. Wrote some great yet simple riffs and solos. Electrifying lyrics. Imagine what the music world would have been like if hendrix was around another 20 years.

So in conclusion: if you want to make great music take drugs BUT not to many because you shouldn't die and leave the world wondering what could have been. biggrin.gif

Frusciante solos are incredible!! He is not a shredder but his melodies are wonderfull. He is an amazing composer too!

Flea is also incredible. Check the Californication lp bass lines , they are perfect!
