I tried recording without effects thinkin maybe they were not letting me hear the notes fully and not hearing it in tune , so I forgot to add effects back in for the video.. well at least the guitar only file has no delay/reverb

I think your guitar may have serious intonation issues. Either that or the tuning slipped a bit before the take? It's worth taking it to a luthier if the intonation is that far off imho. I've had to to this myself in the past.

AMAZING work guys!!! Everyone did a great job and SUPER JOB on Gabe!!

Quick Tip: Everyone, always try to tune up before a take and check your intonation past the 12th fret as you may have to tune just to play beyond 12 if the intonation is off.

Brilliant work everyone and once again thank you Gab for your awesome mixing skills and showing us, or me at least, what mine could have sounded line.

Out of interest, did you have to use auto tune on mine? I try to keep the intonation within the realms of normality on my guitars and though my bending is improving I know I'm still sometimes flat or sharp.

Peace.

Great collab, everyone! Great video and all! That was very cool! cool.gif

QUOTE (jstcrsn @ Aug 15 2021, 03:06 PM) *
so.. Are we going to use this great thing Gabe did to take cheap shots ?.

I think it's good practice to make sure we are in tune etc. Some people might not be 100% aware of it. I think it's just good practice to give Gabriel the best conditions we can for his mix. It's good practice in general to be intonated, in tune and so on, whether that's for practice, recording, studio or live playing. It will only help us in the long run cool.gif

yes , but at the end is not the time to address it , everyone is learning and self conscious and when insecurities start to wonder and will not want to join another collab
To put everyone at ease it was probably my take , Gabe Pmed me and told me, it took time to intonate and record and by the time I downloaded it (it is on page 4 noted as guitar only take intonated) but I did not have it to him in time
The Leader (Gabe ) did it correctly , he messaged me directly to avoid embarrassment so I could fix it . Not on an open thread where someone could get offended and not want to do anymore collabs
There has already been 1 student wondering because of Todd's needless comment

Does that make sense

I appreciate your work and your take on this collab. I consider you an important part of this community and I deeply regret having offended you. This was my bad. Just trying to help. I've had intonation issues in the past and someone was kind enough to point it out. I think it was the instructor on the collab. i didn't take offense. I just went and had my guitar intonated. I do apologize if you felt pointed out, that's why I didn't use anyones name in my post. .

Thanks guys for the comments! We make these collabs for fun, and to share the experience of making music together. I work here more like a producer at the studio, so if the timing or pitch need to be adjusted a bit, I do it. The idea is to have a final track that sound like a profesional song that anybody can listen on the radio.

Whenever I consider relevant to tell students about a specific technique/technical issue, I send a message but not as a argue, mostly to use this as an excuse to teach/suggest anything. So, if you didn't receive a private message from me, or a comment here, there was nothing relevant to fix in your take.

Todd had no bad intentions here. He also wanted to give tips and suggestions for teaching purposes. Please don't take it personal.

Again, I love this track guys, thanks for jamming with me. Are you ready for the next one? cool.gif
