Ok well heyy guys ive made a goal to start sweeping for the rest of my life, yes the rest of my life.

Im going to do at least a hour a day of focused sweeping and this is what im doing and I just need a heads up if im in the right path.

Im making and effort to using the metronome ( Is that a fine one ? )

Im at 42 bpm right now and this is my logic of whats going on.

These are the two 3 string arpeggios im working on from Pavels 3-String Sweeping Lesson

E-minor 3-string arpeggio

e|--19-p-15-----------15--19-p-15------------15---
b|-----------17----17--------------17-----17------
g|--------------16---------------------16---------
d|------------------------------------------------
a|------------------------------------------------
e|------------------------------------------------

D-major 3-string arpeggio

e|--17-p-14-----------14--17-p-14------------14---
b|-----------15----15--------------15-----15------
g|--------------14---------------------14---------
d|------------------------------------------------
a|------------------------------------------------
e|------------------------------------------------

Now with using the metronome and the arpeggios together, I count 1-2-3-4-5-6 and associating that with the are arpeggio because its 6-tuplets ( 6 notes per beat ) I sweep all of the first arpeggio and immidiatly once I pull of the last note that should be a complete beat played with the metronome for one arpeggio, does that make sense ? And im also have 4 beats per measure with the metronome I used above

I made this topic to clarify that everything im doing is on the right track and that im not making any bad mistakes along the way.

Any advice on improving what im doing or tips on sweeping would be appreciated.

Hey John!

I suggest you take this free metronome, download it to your PC. I use this one, it's really simple to use, you can program whatever you want, straight metronome, metronome with accentuated 1st beat, etc.

http://www.pinkandaint.com/weirdmet.shtml

Check it out! smile.gif

You got i all right except the pull-off. The pull-off is first part of arpeggio so the lsat note of E-minor arp is G on E string!! smile.gif So you have 1 arpeggio (6-notes) per beat -> 4 arpeggios per measure(bar).

Here is the link where i count with metronome these arpeggios:

http://www2.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-gui...esson/index.htm

Open video number 4!

Keep rocking m8 and ask if you need something! smile.gif

Wow Pavel strangly enough I already had this downloaded but I didnt use it ? tongue.gif Thanks for the link ! As for the pull off , Ik you start the arpeggio with the pull of but wont you know youve successfully completed the beat with the six-tuplet once you get get to the Next pulloff ?

And also im doing Rusty Cooleys style of sweeping ( U,P-O,U,U,D,D ) I saw the one guy post a comment in the 3 string sweeping arpeggios and it works great for me : ) But is it really ok to use ?

Ive already improved like 3 or 4 bpm today from 40 ! Is that normal on the lowed Bpm levels ?

- Thanks All- John

1 arpeggio has is 6 notes! So when you play 6 notes you have an arpeggio done and can start another one! smile.gif

If it's ok for Rusty - why shouldn't it be ok for you? wink.gif It's a matter of preferences. I like the MAB style - i started sweeping that way 2 and half years ago so i don't even think about re-learning it! smile.gif

In the beginning we usually improve faster but the problems come later on when you get to high speeds. Don't bother with that. Just make sure that what you are playing is clean!

If you still don't get what i mean about counting - just visit the link i gave you before and see how i count it! Once you get from 1 to 6 you have finished playing one arpeggio shape.

MAB's sweeping is - if you look at the tabs above - U-P/O-U-D-D-D

Rusty's way of sweeping is: U-P/O-U-U-D-D

The difference is only one move but apparently both are good as they are used by the greatest shred masters! I like the first one more because i started sweeping by MAB's instructionals so i am with it from the beginning and when i saw Rusty's videos i was already at a pretty good speed with sweeping so i didn't want to change the way i sweep and i didn't see any need in it!

See which one is better for you and learn like that! smile.gif

so if it was a 3 string sweep MAB way it would be:

U P/O U D D D U P/O U D D D

e|--19-p-15-----------15--19-p-15------------15-- b|------------17----17--------------17-----17------
g|--------------16---------------------16------------
d|-----------------------------------------------------
a|-----------------------------------------------------
e|-----------------------------------------------------

isnt that the way you teach it in ur lessons pavel?

Rusty Cooley way:

U P/O U U D D U P/O U U D D

e|--19-p-15-----------15--19-p-15-------------15-
b|-----------17----17----------------17-----17------
g|--------------16------------------------16---------
d|-----------------------------------------------------
a|-----------------------------------------------------
e|-----------------------------------------------------

well when i first started learing it was the rusty way but then i watch pavels lesson and im using the MAB way now
