Hey Gabriel thanks for your prompt reply smile.gif

I want to join Dio's guitarists in the pantheon of guitar gods. tongue.gif
For this, I can afford two hours of practice a day. cool.gif

I've been practicing Darius' Lesson Beginner Soloing 1 for the past few days,
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginner-Soloing-1/
my bends suck ass and playing the 120 bpm triplets at 1:00 is out of my reach
I feel rather comfortable at 100bpm though.

These are the things I'd like to improve :
-bends, bends with vibrato
-rythm
-speed

And also I would like to learn :
-notes on the fretboard
-scales
-reading sheets

I like every style of music... if it sounds good to me tongue.gif
Here are some of the lessons I have bookmarked :

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Classic-Punk-Ramones/#

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Johnny-Cash-Style/

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Soul-Ballad/

And here's a Jake E. Lee solo that really inspires me :

That's all I can think of, hope it helps!

Amazing stuff! Thanks for the info. Are you able to film yourself playing? Could you please post here some videos of you playing different techniques?

No problem I can film myself with my camera, but I'm not sure what to play...
I posted a REC recently, that's basically where I stand :

I can also upload my progress on Darius' lesson https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginner-Soloing-1/
even if the techniques used are quite similar

If you want to see me play something specific I'll gladly accept any assignement biggrin.gif

Ok, that video really helps me to know a bit more from you. I was thinking on a routine with this structure... tell me what you think and we can start adding lessons and exercises there.

Warming up (10 min)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Picking-Arpeggios/

HOUR 1:

Alternate picking (20 min)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Altern...king-Workout-2/

Legato (20 min)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/

Feeling - Vibrato + Bending (20 min)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/guitar_loves_piano/

HOUR 2:

Rhythm (20 min)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Johnny-Cash-Style/

Sweep Picking or tapping or hybrid picking (20 min)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...rove-sweep-now/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...picking-lesson/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Basic-Tapping/

Theory
Learn 1 new concept from this list: THEORY and try to incorporate it and apply it in your guitar playing. Connect the idea learnt with your real music playing. Search for GMC lessons that are based on this topics. (for example if you read the major scales section, search for lessons where the instructors give ideas on how to use them and learn it).

Hi mate! I just suggested lessons for each topic and added guidelines for learning theory. Please check it out and tell me what you think. Be honest and tell me if you feel comfortable with each of the lessons that I suggested, if not, we can continue searching. This process must be exciting for you. I haven't suggested rhythm lessons because I wanted to ask you which lessons you prefer learn for that topic.

Please start working on the routine as soon as you can. Those days that you have more hours, you can make the parts longer or dedicate some time to just jam and create your own music.

Good luck! smile.gif

Thank you very much!

In all honesty I like the lessons you picked, a lot!
I'll definitely dig this gold mine.

For the rythm lesson I'll go with this one : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Johnny-Cash-Style/

I'll upload some videos later to show you how it goes.

Hi Gabriel!

A little update to say that I 've been doing my homework.

Picking-Arpeggios is going well, I can play the arpeggios clean without buzzing sounds and the hardest chord stretched my hand quite a bit. I'm too slow to switch between chords though, so I can't play it in rythm yet.

Alternate Picking I uploaded a video to show you. I think it's on the right path even if it's still rough.
My pinky is obviously very stiff dry.gif Is there a way to correct that ?

Legato is hard I can't keep playing it for 20mn, it's too painful. However, I can see the benefit already so I'll be doing it thoroughly.

Guitar loves piano Is challenging, I'm still trying to figure out how to do the bends correctly.

As for the rest of the lessons I haven't started practicing them yet.

Voilà smile.gif

Hi mate! Thanks for the update! I can see that you are working hard, and motivated with the routine! This means a lot, the results are already happening, congrats.

Thanks for posting the video. I think that you are not playing this relaxed, you have to be able to relax a bit more your hands, mostly your left hand. That's why your pinky is stiff, as well as I feel that both hands and arms are a bit stiff. Try to play everything smoother and you will feel more comfortable. Even you can play it slower to find more easier to play without stress. Another thing that I noted is that you move away your left hand fingers too much from the fret board. Try to keep them the closer possible to the fret-board when you are not pushing the fret.

Hi Gabriel!

I'm happy with the lessons you gave me, they are keeping me quite busy!

I made a few modifications to the routine, I shrunk the number of lessons and added a new one.
This is what it looks like :

Warming up
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Picking-Arpeggios/

Alternate picking
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Altern...king-Workout-2/

Legato
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/

Feeling - Vibrato + Bending
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/guitar_loves_piano/

Tapping
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Basic-Tapping/

Bonus
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Melodic-Yoppe/

I am spending more than two hours a day practicing them.
I'd like to keep doing these for a few weeks as I find them to be challenging biggrin.gif

Here's a little update for Alternate picking, I fixed my tense hand but I still need to improve upon timing and precision.

My off-rythm tapping :

I'll upload some videos for the other lessons soon.

Hi mate. I have to congrat you on the last post that you did. We are definitely on the right road. You re-created the routine that I gave and added something from your own. That's exactly what I was looking for. This is now a reciprocal work and that's the way to become more creative. smile.gif

I checked both videos and the main thing that I note is that your hands are not relaxed while you play. Both your hands and your body are too rigid and that's the first thing that you have to improve. I prefer a take with some more wrong notes but with a guitarist that is playing something that flows natural, from his body. Don't try to show me how good you can play it, please try to enjoy it and to reflect your personality through your playing. Am I clear? Does this make sense for you?

Regarding the technical issues, you can really note them, I'm sure that I don't have to write them here. smile.gif

Thank you for your feedback! I'll have a beer or two before playing tongue.gif

Joking aside, your advice definitely rings a bell. smile.gif Ever since I uploaded my first video, I have been watching fellow GmCers perform in the REC zone, it's very constructive and it helps me understand guitar playing better.
In comparison, I noticed that their playing seems sturdy, solid and confident, whereas mine seems rather feeble and undefined.
I was wondering why... and I think you nailed it!

Thanks again, I'll keep your advice in mind and I'll try to achieve a more relaxed state cool.gif

Hola Gabriel!

I feel the need to reinvigorate my guitar routine, I would like to develop a better sense of rhythm and vibrato.
Do you have any recommendations for new lessons?
I was thinking about adding these :

Rhythm
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...r2-palm-muting/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Tightness_Etude/

Vibrato
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey-5/

and keeping these :

Sweep
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...rove-sweep-now/

Legato (not quite there yet)
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/

As a goal to reach for this new year, there are three lessons I would like to master :

Hole Style
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Hole-Style/

Melodic
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Melodic-Yoppe/

The Voice of your Guitar
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The-Vo...Of-Your-Guitar/

What do you think? smile.gif
