GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ I Went Back And Bought The Lugosi Guitar!

Posted by: Todd Simpson Dec 19 2013, 02:31 AM

I broke down and gave in to my gear lust and trucked back to guitar center today and BOUGHT that BELA LUGOSI guitar that I was posting pictures of in previous posts. I was just shopping around and I played every guitar they had in the shop. It took ALL FREAKING DAY and that was the best playing guitar they had IMHO, even better than the IBANEZ RG570 they had in stock!!!! I almost bought that one. Several guitars caught my eye, but this one I had to have. Get this!

It's # 123 (serial is GRAVE123) of only 325 EVER BUILT!!!

I knew is was a special edition, but I didn't realize there were only a few hundred of them in total for the entire planet. It even comes with a "Death Certificate"

**To make it even more rare, it doesn't have a STOCK EMG it's got an ACTIVE SEYMOUR DUNCAN!!! Which is great because I"m in a bit of a LOVE AFFAIR with Duncan Pickups and I"m pretty much over my EMG phase. I traded in my last EMG equipped guitar for this one smile.gif

and a custom made, hand stiched coffin case!!!

Man that guitar looks great laugh.gif

Just curious, have you ever seen http://www.espguitars.com/products/9068-m-vampire-bio-tech?category_id=1963316-graphic-series in a store before?

Been looking to get one for a while but seems to have some sort of US-only embargo on it, even on ebay etc.

Say what you will about over-the-top graphic guitars, but ESP seem to really know how to make 'em.

Never have seen those before, but I"ll keep an eye out smile.gif

Here is a link to the info page and pic from the vendor. There's is a much better pic than mine wink.gif This guitar lists for $1499 ouch!!! That was a shock. The street price seems to be about $900, still ouch!! This particular one evidently never got played but was put on layaway and the guy couldn't get it so it popped back out. Not a scratch on it, brand spanking new. But since it technically had a previous "owner" they couldn't keep it as new in their system. smile.gif I didn't realize what a HUGE deal I was getting on this guitar as I had no idea what is was supposed to cost, nor did I know it was so rare ( 1 of only 325 globally) I just liked the way it played and it didn't look bad smile.gif Didn't research the guitar much til after I bought it. Didn't really care as long as it played well wink.gif

*Just goes to show, PLAY EVERY GUITAR YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!! i went in looking for an IBANEZ and passed up an actual IBANEZ RG 570 which was only $250!! Then I went home and waited a day. (NEVER BUY THE GUITAR ON THE SPOT IF YOU CAN HELP IT IMHO, IMPULSE BUYS HAVE BURNED ME IN THE PAST). Out of all the guitars I played, this was the only one I "missed" smile.gif

I got lucky! It lists for $1500, street price aroudn $1000, they had it used since the guy who had it on layaway bailed on it then their system automatically reduced it another 100 bux since it had been in the store to long so $550! Nobody seemed to know much about it or that it was rare. I had no idea at the time. Only later did I find out it was 1 of only a few hundred ever made. I just liked how it played smile.gif

Just goes to show, it's always worth stopping by the music stores just to see what's on the racks!
