GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Long Time Dabbler!

Hello all... just wanted to introduce myself to the GMC community.

As the topic title says, I am a long-time dabbler in guitar, but have never really been able to make myself buckle down and take things to the next level. I know the basic chords and a few power chords but that's about it. I'm middle aged and have been "playing" at playing guitar since my college days. I am a die-hard metal head, and I like a pretty wide range of music from Prog Metal to Death / Black Metal to Viking Metal!

Anyway, my hope is that being part of a community of fellow guitar players will give me the kick in the @$$ I need to get a bit more serious about learning and practicing and growing my skill set as a guitarist.

My main problem is that I don't really know where to start - there is just such a vast amount of information out there. Do you start with chords, scales, what!?

Welcome to GMC! You can start by choosing a mentoring program with one of our instructors (Gabriel Leopardi or Todd Simpson). In this way you will have an organized structure for learning. See you around the forum

My advise is "try to have as much fun as possible when learning". That way you will want to practice more
