And we all know that all the anti-piracy clips are completely useless.
This is only about the quality of what we pay for.

I am not a pro-pirates, I am an anti-media-industry. wink.gif

laugh.gif I like the pic!

The media industry still has massive problems to adapt to these new channels through which digital content can be acquired.
Anti piracy clips and the random exemplary lawsuit or law enforced shutdown of p2p networks are not a very creative way of dealing with this situation.
Trying to prevent something has never been a wise choice of action in the face of innovation - I´m really curios on what the media industry will finally come up with to get out of this crisis (crisis for them that is).

Really interesting issue!

Just my 2Cents!

Agree to 100%. When shall they realize that the customers don't want this totally wasted information and commercials anymore? Everyone knows that its illegal to copy DVD's, so why do they have this screen??? Also, a lot of the menu's on DVD's really stinks, since You hardly can't see what choice You made. (thinking of sub-titles etc.)
Anyway, we can hope for the DVD to disappear, since they started to sell movies via ISDN (at least here in Sweden), eg. You pay for a rent of 24 hours - just as in the video store, and then You are billed by Your regular phone bill. Very handy imo.

laugh.gif So true, I still buy DVDs (will buy blu-ray from now on though), but it pisses me off when I have to see so many adds, specially the "pirating" adds, when I have already bought my DVD laugh.gif

Will get blu-ray from now on though, image quality is cretainly better smile.gif

Oh so true...! I really hate the unskippable stuff on my dvd's. Got hundreds and hundreds of (bought!) DVD's, and still I do not understand why they have this stuff on the legal DVD's. They're just pushing people into piracy...

I used DVD but since have transfered my collection onto my 7MC and using programs like Media Browser to navigate my library.

I don't understood the whole Blu-ray phenomenon other than using it as storage media or gaming. I get the whole hi def aspect but... Sorta like the whole DVD Audio phase we went through.. Remember that? Exactly.. LOL

True inovation for me is something entirely new. I see more digital distribution and on-demand content being delivered to your own being more the next way. Using things like 7MC, Xbox360 and PS3 to get that contentt to your home.

Funny pic! laugh.gif

I buy DVD's of movies that have no use being on Blu-Ray. Like, older movies. 2001: A Space Odyssey was not recorded on any HD camera, so Blu-Rays up conversion doesnt really look all that great. New movies however, it really does make a difference. Watchmen on Blu-Ray look beautiful smile.gif

I really hate those unskippable parts of DVD! sad.gif Regarding BluRay movies/concerts etc - I think its a great format as I like to enjoy crisp clear picture. There is just a big difference (only on new movies etc that were shot in HD).

I agree with everybody, and specially opeth. Something new is needed, like 3D monitors etc.. The whole idea of pushing 2d picture in closed space can only go as far as the wall as the biggest surface, and judging by the pace of technology evolution, we can expect that in several 5 years more/less in developed countries. What then? Well, internet will be (as always) bad for direct transfer, so some kind of special services are needed. Digital television for acquiring HD multimedia content is already here, and this is reality for feeding the consumers with HD material. Discs are slowly going into (deserved) retirement. No more plastics, bring out the optics.

I find that they are too big and bulky, and I only just watch them once, twice if lucky. Most of the time I just watch it on Movies on demand on my Virgin box...

I wouldn't pirate them though...

I am also thinking the same.

All these FBI warnings and stuff should be printed somewhere like a separate cover. Why would we bother reading that before the movie? Imagine if audio CD had trailers and some voice reads you 2 min of law before the album smile.gif haha that would be funny
