When I was about 18 years old back in -82, I owned a white Strat in nice condition, that was made exactly the same month I was born (october -64), back then the prizes on vintage guitars was about the double of a new one.

So yesterday when I was browsing Guitar Center, I saw a black -64 that was really nice and I made a request for the price. When the answer came I got totally in shock!!!! 49,995 $ !!!!
I was expecting it to be high, maybe some 10.000, but not this much....

I realized that i sold my white baby in the eighties for about 1200 bucks.... and this is what made me totally sick. Why did i ever sold that guitar ??? Im so stupid !!!!

Not to rub salt in this, but if you had invested all 1200 of those dollars in 1982, the chances are pretty good that you'd have FAR more than the 50k of today's price.

Wow, that's a lot of cash.

Just wondering: if you had that guitar now, would you sell it? Or keep it?

Almost 50k for vintage guitar. I would have to have millions of $ to give 50k for something like that. Think about everything you can get for 50k instead, it will make you feel better for sure smile.gif

Hmmm, that was a hard one. But i think I would have sold it. No guitar in the entire world is worth that money. If we then consider that they were kinda mass-produced cheap garbage compared to Gibson guitars, You realize that You can get get a similar one on Ebay for 100$.... I dont really understand why the fenders shall be that expensive.

I saw an interview with John 5 once, and he was saying when he was a kid he had a strat that was autographed by Stevie Ray Vaughan himself! John 5 TRADED the guitar (before Stevie died) for a Kramer that had the Eddie Van Halen paintjob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine what a vintage Strat with SRV's signature on it is worth?!?!

hehe 50K , that's crazy! But you shouldn't feel bad , 1200$ back then was a lot. But its amazing how guitar in 20+ years can gain in value! smile.gif

We should start a thread on this, what did you sell-give=throw away that you should have kept because it became valuable and/or collectable. I bet everyone here has a good story.
