GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Bombed

Posted by: Robwylde Dec 26 2007, 06:14 PM

Last night for Christmas I went to play We wish you a Merry Christmas for my family. (Taken from a lesson from GMC) I must say I just bombed! unsure.gif It was like my figers forgot how to play guitar. I had the song memorized and could play it well. Just wanted to share my failure with other guitarist. Oh well back to the practice board.

It always happens when you try to play in front of people - i mean, it happens to those who don't gig or play in band. People who gig a lot get rid of that "fear" pretty fast smile.gif

Don't worry about it smile.gif

Err... sorry! It's always difficult to perform something that's so fresh infront of an audience. Hopw you didn't ruin the entire weekend tongue.gif wink.gif

Don't worry it happens all the time smile.gif Actually it is harder to play something in front of your family then on gig believe me. Practice a bit more and you'll get the hang of it. In general when I want to learn something flawless, I learn it twice the original tempo and then you are sure not to make a mistake.

As already said it happens all the time mate. Chances are that more often then not your family and friends won't have noticed anyway.

Good advice from Ivan btw.

Cheers,
Tony

Darn! It's just human nature to be nervous.

Hope it didn't affect your Christmas presents smile.gif

Thanks for the kind words. I believe you guy's are correct. Playing in front of the family is different than a gig. Playing at a faster tempo is something I definetly am going to do. Thanks again for the encouragement. Plus my Christmas was great. The season isn't about what I can and can't do. cool.gif

Tough break...it happens to everyone who has played in front of people. Even more if they are people whose opinions matter to you. I got so used to it that I only recently discovered that not bombing could also happen! dry.gif . You could also use it to motivate you for practice.

Never mind m8, dont let it worry you, the more you play in front of people the easier it becomes, the nerves for me have never stopped until half way through the first song, once the first solo is out of the way I relax and its no different when family & friends are watching either.

I once spent an entire gig with a guy standing right in front of me just watching what I was playing, I thought "here we go" but when the gig was over he came up to the bar and said "let me buy you a drink, that was awesome" although quite off putting I just pretended that he wasnt there, a weird way to show your appreciation for someone but hey, just enjoy yourself and the audience will enjoy it too smile.gif

You mean like someone picking up the parcel wrapped in paper shaped like a guitar, shaking her head walking off with it while mumbeling "i'm returning this. what's the use anyway?"... wink.gif
