Hey guys! I joined today and so far I'm digging the AC/DC lesson... I mostly play a PRS and love it but occasionaly still pick up my Strat. I'm at the young age of 41 and started playing guitar 6.5 years ago. I had professional lessons about 4 of those years but since been on my own and latelty I feel like I'm in a rut and I think GMC can get me out of that with all it has to offer.

Kent

Great to have you here with us Kent! smile.gif
When you feel you're in a rut - it's always good to pick up a lesson that covers something out of your comfort zone and work on it.
Why not learn a new technique like tapping/sweeping or how to play country and jazz music?

Feel free to post here in the forum whenever you have doubts or questions.

See you around,
Bogdan

Hi Kent, welcome to GMC smile.gif

Yes, as Bogdan says, it's good to pick something you wouldn't normally cosider yourself being able to play.. it doesn't have to be difficult as such but hearing yourself playing something that's not normally in your repertoire is always a great motivator and confidence boost.

Also, be sure to check out the live video chats that us instructors do each week. The schedule is at the bottom of the main page.. I'm doing one tonight from 19:00 GMT onwards and everybody's invited smile.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome and for the quick tips. I've seen a lot of on line lessons but nothing compares what GMC has to offer, I'm excited about it that's for sure. smile.gif

As far as my favorite guitarists...SRV is top of my list, I like Hendrix of course and B.B. King. No surprise here I love the blues but when I play it often ends up as hard rock ...which I like equally as well. My favorite thing to do on guitar is relax while I write and play my own stuff...not that I'm any good at it I just enjoy doing it.

I checked out the REC threads, very nice. I don't have any equipment to record a decent track for interntet use but that's something I'd like to do.

Thanks again, Kent

Hey man,

Welcome to the GMC-ride,

Life starts at 40, so they say !!! I strongly believe that you are just as old as you feel. Yep, ... I'm over 40 too and when I'm home alone, I move the furniture out of the way, play some Hendrix (Try that is !!) while crawling on my back and do some stage dives from the closet as I pick the devastating riff from Paradise City cool.gif biggrin.gif Man, life can be GREAT and it will certainly become richer, now you've joined this site ! You're ruts will soon be history !!

SRV rocks ! His Little Wing version is sublime !!!!!

All the best !! wink.gif

Welcome to GMC mate! smile.gif

Anything you would like to know, just as us, and we will try to help as much as possible! smile.gif

If you just came, you might want to check out all the great things GMC has to offer in order to keep you motivated and non-stuck! biggrin.gif

1. REC program (board where members learn GMC lessons, play them, record themselves with webcams, and put it on youtube. Then instructors comment and give grades. Once you go through a number of lessons, your status in the community rises, and you get yourself a title based on the number of lessons you've done and difficulty level)

2. Collaborations (you will find lots of collabs on GMC, audio and video collabs. The idea behind them is to get members to participate in creating songs or playing over backing tracks created by instructors. Later on, instructors comment on the takes, and put video mixes on youtube, where members are featured and present themselves as hard working GMC community figures)

3. Forum (excellent place to share your problems, knowledge, questions or anything at all with the community! Very addictive, since it's all positive energy! smile.gif )

4. GMC Video Chats (click on the GMC banner, and scroll down to check out calendar. Try to participate some video chats - you can learn a lot, and ask questions to instructors in real time! )

5. GMC Scale Generator (generate the patterns for practice and displaying examples and problems to the community)

6. Search Option (be sure to use this, as forum and lesson archive hide some very interesting things! )
