Wow! Thanks for the introduction and kind comments.

I'm 37 now and I started playing when I was around 11 or 12. So I guess I've been playing guitar for roughly +25 years. Growing up as a kid in the 80's I was obvioulsy influenced by heavy metal bands like AC/DC, early Metallica, KISS, Iron Maiden and so on. In fact for years Angus Young was my favorite guitar player and still to this day seeing AC/DC live was one of the best concerts I've been to. On the contrary, as my vocabulary of music expanded and more musical styles were introduced to me, I found myself really intrigued by bands like Stray Cats, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and so on that come from a more rockabilly genre as well as Lynard Skynard, Alman Bros and southern rock bands which were big down south where I am from. When I heard Albert Lee play for the first time I thouhgt to myself I have to learn to play like that. As country music in the 90's became popular I found myself listening more and more to country artists. Ironically I found myself spending hours trying to learn how to play like some of these guitar players. As I became better at the guitar I started working in music stores, teaching guitar, playing in bands and writing songs. There was something about crossing over to country guitar that made me enjoy the guitar much more and practicing became more of a discipline to me. Like Albert Lee once said, the telecaster is a very unforgiving instrument and playing with a clean tone all the time is like playing naked. there is nothing to cover your mistakes. I guess some of us are just drawn to that.

I enjoyed reading how your style evolved from rock/metal bands to something completely different. That's what's so fascinating about the learning journey - you'll most likely end up on a completely different place than you had foreseen..!

LOL! That happens. I traded my last girlfriend for a '63 telecaster. Actually she broke up with me but you know how it is. Glad you like the lesson. I'm working on more as we speak.
