Hey guys - I always wondered if these videos were recorded live (playing and signing)?
If so - where are the microphones? smile.gif How did they do it?

hmm. my heart wants to say they were recorded live with perhaps the boom mics just out of sight of the cameras. but upon closer inspection, there are little imperfections that tell me that they were probably filmed as music videos are filmed today - with the music and the video recorded separately.
btw, if they ever made a movie about Little Richard the perfect actor i think would be Chris Tucker

Both the Little Richard and Fats Domino vids are the original 45 rpm version of those tunes. The pitch/speed is off versus the currently available re-mastered versions and they don't necessarily start the tune at exactly the same place in the promo film - which is what those really are - but those are just lip-synched.

On 'live' TV these days, most actual bands will play live and many will do it supplemented with pre-recorded (stems) tracks. It depends on how extensive the production is on said song and how dependent the fans are on hearing 'the song' as they know it(?). My guess is that the Muse track is live + some tracks. They use tracks live anyway, don't they? (No crime in that for trio that sounds that massive.)
*Modern vocal 'pop' groups will almost always lip-sync completely. Depends on how good they 'actually' can sing. I did some TV with the Back Street Boys and they were totally live.
