Nice feel, great axe, but those stock pups are horrible and almost designed to be replaced. Evos sound awesome in basswood, I would recommend trying those for your type of axe. If I had an old school RG, I would definitely be replacing the original pickups with them.
I suggest a bit of research, youtubing it up also helps give you a good idea. You could end up with something that deep sounding like (if that's what your after): Equip: Ibanez RG370DX (DiMarzio Evo Pickups), PODxt Note: I didn't try this myself but was close to getting an old school RG550 and replace the pickups with EVOS (so I've already done some research) This post has been edited by Azzaboi: Sep 27 2011, 06:27 PM -------------------- Play Games Arcade Take a break, Play Games! I would go for Evo pickups too, they are very powerful and retain clarity a lot. Not really everyone's cup of tea, you should check with someone who has them on a guitar before buying if you can. If you can't you can try with something similar JS and Vai are using, you won't make a mistake. They will sound better then INF that's for sure.

Todd here I've actually got an old school RG560 with the stock pickups and they are a bit crap. The guys are right on concerning the EVO's and Basswood. Good combo The Rockfield Maffia boys make some great pickups with killer dynamics and articulation as well. Try to see if you can play as many guitars as possible in a guitar store or what not before making the final call. Here is a vid of the tone of the SWV (sort of hot rod short wound) by Rockfield. They make hotter ones of course.

You guys ever heard any Dragonfire active pickups? Price seems like it may be too good to be true.
