Ok it may be early days and i might be getting ahead of my self here but at last i have stopped smoking.
in to my third day already, have been back at work after the xmas break and still dont want a cigarette, ( and i am not using NRT or substitutes).
considering that i have been smoking for 22 years and i usually have tried to give up on patches or gums at least once a year since the kids have been around (thats 6 1/2 years), i am usually looking for any excuse to stop giving up by the end of the first day (this has included creating arguments etcc for the excuse), but so far so good, no withdrawal, pangs or regrets.

out of the many new years resolutions i made for this year this is the one that i am actually confident will stick and actually looking forward to keeping..

for any one that is interested i urge you to read Allen Carr's easyway to stop smoking ( even those of you now hooked on nicotene gum)

it is not a magic button or cure but the guy makes absoloute sense.

jut had to share and will keep you posted.

Dusty

Skennington; how are you doin on the seeds?

Good luck with that. Of course it's not a matter of luck, nor persistance, I think it's about finding that comfortable place without it.

Thanks Ivan and Daniel is right, it really is all about feeling "comfortable" not smoking. The cigs become a "crutch" in life and you feel your going to fall when it's taken away. Trust me though, you won't! The first month will be the toughest, most aggravating and stressful time in your life but after that, you feel a sense of accomplishment and want to move forward. Good luck man and I wish you and anyone else who decides to quit all the best. smile.gif

Congratulations!
My parents smoked for 30+ years and they stopped about 5+ years ago. Once they went to doctor and discovered health problems smoking caused them they changed their life around. Now they don't smoke, eat healthy, go walking and hiking into hills and mountains and things like that. I don't smoke nor does my brother but my best friend does. He tried to quit million times and every time I encourage him but he is just not character enough to stick to it. I hope you are, I see Skenington is already on right path - congratulations smile.gif

Good luck man!
I really support people that decide to quit smoking, my parents are very active smokers, but i have never even touched a cigarrete in my entire life, which i am rather proud of.

Good luck! And Skennington, good job!

laugh.gif Hey don't give up this time! If you want to make it fun, do this: Take the money you would have spent on each pack that you DID NOT BUY, and spend it on guitar gear this month alone you could score a nice pedal wink.gif huh.gif It might take some of the edge off the desire to smoke, and you deserve something for giving up the EVIL WEED. Really, that stuff is as hard as heroine to kick, according to some.

Good Luck!

Guys
Thanks for the support and encouragement. great suggestion Hammerhead i have my sights on a few nice additions to my gear collection for this time next year. being a thirty a day man i should be able to spend a couple of grand (if the wife doesnt get it first).

they do say that the first three days/ weeks/ months are the worst for withdrawal and irritability etc.. but so far i have actually been happy and had no withdrawal pangs, unlike when i have used patches and gums etc.. and additionally been downright miserable because i have "given" up my crutch. i have an urge now and then but it is gone in milliseconds

amazingly though not this time. thats enough, i feel like i am preaching (mainly to the converted), but thanks again and i nwill give an update in a few weeks (succesess or failure).

D
