GMC Forum _ Gabriel Leopardi _ Lesson Request - How To Get Great Tone

Keep the nice job in Cirse and on your lessons. They called my attention not only for the techniques and styles, but also for the tone. This is the reason this request goes for you.

In my vision, all the technique in the world is useless if one has a poor tone.
shredding with great tone and feeling - can be really cool
shredding with poor tone - sound more like an electric saw

It may be just me (probably not), but I have really a hard time in getting the tone I want. When using a POD XT live I was simply downloading them and tweaking, but if I start from scratch I hardly achieved anything nice. Even in my practice amp I was feeling it was total crap and then I found in the internet some sets to reproduce artist tones. Way better than anything I could get...
I just want to stop randomly seeking for the tones I want...

It would be nice if the lesson could include using proper pickup positions during a song, amplifier adjustments, miking the amp, etc

Hello! You gave me great ideas to incorporate in some of my lessons. I use a Marshall Valvestate 8080 when I'm practicing in my studio and it works ok for me. When I play live I preffer to use a tube amp head called Vintage Electric.
It's very difficult to get the tone that you want but with a good valvular head you'll get a great distortion and clean sound. The guitar choice is also very important. It's different the sound of a giobson, a fender or an ibanez. It'll take time and you'll have to check lots of things but finally if work on it you'll find it.
