Excellent Twibeard! any ideas for a band name and I`ll put your advert up, plus how many members do you want in your band?
plus a suggested begining song would be cool too smile.gif

Ok so I'll start my first one, a beginner's band, covers(atleast for the first few songs)!

Style: preety much anything, as this will serve mainly as a "crossroad" band for beginners to get experience at recording, song writing, and improvising, and later hopefully will move to bigger more complicated projects smile.gif

Eddie allready said he wants to be in so a max of 3 more band members will be enough, I could do the bass as I got one lying around tongue.gif but if anyone else wants it it's up for grabs. oh an very important, one of you guys should be able to sing, or atleast not be afraid to sing, I can't do it, and i'll do the mastering, probably bothering Smells and others alot about this, but this is the subject I want to gain experience in. smile.gif

For a first song, something very simple and beautifull with many options to improvise on, Oasis - Wonderwall.

Name: Cover Bangas (we can change to anything tongue.gif)

Great David! biggrin.gif

Can you write a kind of brief advert for your band.

Come up with a band name, how many band members you`d like, the style, and a suggested first song idea, cover etc

then I`ll open your band a thread to discuss

thanks biggrin.gif

Great Alex, thats awesome! I was thinking something melodic stuff along the lines of Children Of Bodom/In Flames/Norther etc, certainly not all out brutal death!

Ok as a band name I propose 'Acid Spill'. What do you think Alex? It was kinda off the top of my head.

I want to bring together some GMC members with a love for melodic metal, and a desire to push their abilities. In terms of style, I was thinking melodic technical riffs, interesting song structures, catchy choruses and some nice solos. Maybe even some Dragonforce esque dual leads.

As far as members are concerned, were gonna need a bassist, a drummer (or someone who's competent with drum programming, and another guitarist or two. There's already myself and Alex doing guitars so the guitar places are limited, but let us know either via PM or the thread that Smells is gonna set up why you wanna play with us, and what you think you could bring to the band!
I think it would also be awesome to have a keyboardist if anyone around here can do that? As far as a vocalist is concerned I'm open to either extreme style vocals or an aggressive singing style, so get in touch if you think you have the voice!

For a first song I'm proposing one of the following as a cover:
Children of Bodom - Kissing The Shadows
Norther - Victorious One
In Flames - Pinball Map
or requests?

I think thats all for now!
David

I'd like to form a beginners alternate rock band (kind of radiohead, smashing pumpkins, nirvana, pixies, stereophonics etc) that will start doing stuff during or after the christmas break - so a week or two from now would be when I'd like to start recording ideally.

I consider myself beginner to intermediate leaning towards the latter, so for a beginner band I think I could be a good leader. I have audacity and reaper. I also have a bass, electric and acoustic guitars, and I'm capable of making some rudimentary drum tracks, hoping to improve on that with some fills and stuff like that pretty soon but it's good enough for now, especially if we get someone else with that kind of experience.

Working band name of Moaning Lisa (biggrin.gif) until we can decide on something else or to keep it. I'd like three to four other band members. One spot must be reserved for anyone willing to sing, and I'm also hoping for another better bassist though not necessary. Other spots can be filled by guitarists of a beginning to intermediate level.

We now have five virtual bands, so temporarily I`m closing this thread until we are established and can add some new bands, I plan to break the bands into catorgories later, this is just a starting point, if you want to start a band then write down your ideas so that as soon as I open this up again you can jump in biggrin.gif
Please sign up in the Band members thread tho to take a place in the rota for any of the current bands

Thanks everyone, response has been overwhelming biggrin.gif
