looks like Gibson guitars are going in to the record biz. They have signed Slash up. Maybe they will start signing up other Gibson players as a cross promotional sort of thing? What do you guys think? Great idea leading to great guitar music or simple cross promotion or both?

Probably another boondoggle as "record companies" are, to say the least - in decline.
Just fucking make great Les Pauls, SGs and 335s at many price points and be done with it.
You'd think that by now they'd have learned their lesson.
Apparently not.

The timing does seem a bit odd. One would think they would have done something like this long ago, when CDs were still selling as a way to help promote the brand and its' artists. Maybe they are planning on doing mostly streaming releases and using it as a way to get their endorsees music out there when other avenues than self publishing might help. Still, it does seem an expensive proposition given the economics of being a record label these days.

Maybe they will flop and do what you said? Just go back to making great guitars smile.gif
