I dont really have a all time favourite... My "favourite" guitar player changes every week, I'd rather call it "the the guitar player who inspires me most at this moment"
Today it would be Andy McKee, but other days it can be Rusty Cooley or John Petrucci.
But if I had to say someone who is my all time favourite, it would be Paul Gilbert!

1. John Petrucci
2. John Petrucci
3. John Petrucci
4. John Petrucci
5. John Petrucci
6. John Petrucci
7. John Petrucci
8. John Petrucci
9. John Petrucci
10. John Petrucci

Honorable Mentions: John Petrucci, Alex Lifeson, Steve Howe, Allan Holdsworth, Al Di Meola, Steve Morse, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman.

Never understood the appeal behind Eddie Van Halen, saw him live a month ago and still couldn't understand why people think he is so great. He uses the whammy bar too much and can tap simple licks, the only style he knows is rock.

As for my personal favorite, I would definately have to go with either Joe Satriani or Steve Vai. Not sure which, though.

I totally agree Nemanja.

Tom Morello is so unique and original. He's a big reason I picked up the guitar. Him and Jimmy Page are my two biggest inspirations, and two fave guitarists

Yes! I have listened to rock music for about 7 years now and I have yet to see anyone match the talent and versitality of John Petrucci.

This dude right here comes near John's playing field: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATub40Npxik

Steve Howe is also really good.

I also like many classical guitarists, JerryC rules too.

But outside that, I don't really see the need to listen to anyone else besides Petrucci tongue.gif .

EDIT: Oh yea, Muris is also a really great guitarist, people on GMC should realize how good he really is!
