I always stop playing if I start getting stabbing pains / cramps / pins and needles in my hands but is a bit of burn healthy?

When playing strength exercises I feel I should push myself until my arm starts to ache "burn" a bit.

Makes sense to me aslong as I stop before risking injury.

Opinions?

based on weight lifting and all that good stuff i'd have to say the same goes for guitar playing... a little burn means that the muscles in your hands are getting a work out and that the muscles are strengthening. of course you do not want to over exert your hands so once the burn comes i would say slow down and possibly stop. because you can also wear muscle away from the over exertion.

now stinging and stabbing feelings are not good... if that happens you need to stop immediately.

now these are all my opinions and i am in no way of right to give health advice so this is my disclaimer... haha biggrin.gif i am in no way responsible in any way!!!!

may seem kinda weird but i act like i have a make believe coach coaching me while im playing my guitar and doing various exercises. When my muscles start to hurt/ burn i just think that im just gonna get yelled at by my coach if i stop now. When the going gets tough , keep on going tongue.gif biggrin.gif
